Showerio Thought: The world is currently suffering from a limited supply of semiconductors. If they played factorio before the massive technology expansion in real-life, they would have known that semiconductor supply run out real fast.

If you struggle with the early game being a bit of a drag, watch the beginning of a speedrun

Seriously, speedrunners are great for learning how to get the fuck on with it. Made me MUCH better at getting over the start-of-game hump and into the fun stuff.

"Spider"tron has the torax fused, so it's an Opilione, not a Spider.

Is it possible, to change that the menu size does no get huge when mods add many new recipes? I can see that there is still a scrollbar, so why not fix the size and make it scrollable? (This case happen with Decorio + Alien biomes)

Liquid coal vs advanced oil processing for rocket fuel

    Posted: 14 Feb 2021 02:00 AM PST

So I was testing some ratios for oil. Advanced oil processing vs liquid coal in what makes more rocket fuel. I always thought that liquid coal produced more since it made more heavy fuel than advanced. Here is what I found. I used 1 wagon of coal and 1 wagon of crude oil. I processed them through separate systems. Advanced made 6250 heavy, 11250 light and 13750 petroleum

Liquid coal made 13,000 heavy, 4,000 light and 2,000 petroleum.

If all is consumed for solid fuel as raw

Advanced oil made 312.5 for heavy, 1125 for light and 687.5 for petroleum

Liquid coal made 650 heavy, 400 light and 100 petroleum.

If cracked heavy oil into light oil the solid fuel goes up.

Advanced oil now produces 1593.75 light and 687.5 for petroleum

Coal produces 1375 light solid fuel and 100 petroleum.

Now I was curious about making it all into petroleum for plastic and sulfur

Using same numbers as before Advanced oil if cracked heavy into light and light into petroleum, it generates 24,374.66 petroleum out a single fluid wagon of crude.

    Coal makes 11,166.66 petroleum

But the benefits of liquid coal vs oil is it doesn't need to be monitored like oil since it doesn't backlog with fluids preventing the other fluids being made as easily so its effective in super massive basses where you don't have to watch the oil processing.

Tl:dr is advanced oil processing makes more solid fuel/ rocket fuel than coal liquidation and more petroleum if cracked.

Does someone have a complete modest base as a save game please?

    Posted: 14 Feb 2021 03:42 AM PST

I'm looking to test a graphing tool by running a server 24/7 without players. Does anyone have a (smallish) self-sufficient vanilla base that can run for a day unattended? Even better if it has small cycles of low power, biter attack and repair, train delays, etc to make wavy graphs. Small is good to keep server resource down!

    Just launched my first rocket.

    Posted: 13 Feb 2021 06:39 PM PST

So tonight after many starts and tries I launched a rocket. While streaming live even. Which was nice.

    Edit: 30 hours

Question flair. What's a next goal. I still don't understand logistics systems, or how people are so damn organized. And trains were not necessary, neither were logistics beyond passive supply either.

Keep it simple, but I'm up for new ideas.
