- First post. I've played multiple maps. This time I decided to play an archipelagic map (inspired by my country). I also played without any blueprints (except for belt balancers). Train based map. Far from perfect, but super fun. I make up stories in my mind throughout my game, hence the names.

Posted: 24 Jun 2021 10:54 PM PDT I have started a new game but with a twist, naming it Victorio I am trying to play the game using no advanced equipment, using coal as my power source(changed world generator), and lots of trains. I can only use the lowest building, so burner miners and ONLY burner inserters (WHICH OMG CHANGES THE GAME) making my designs radically change and look quite ... analogue. The factories I make get super big and have large gaps in them too but I enjoy it greatly building these new factories and having to come up with new ways to make things efficiently, and my god they are inefficient and LARGE but it's nice having this much space. The idea is to be in Victorian England really. If you would like to try this here are the rules: Can only use the coal-powered machines so Burner inserters, burner mining drill, and the lowest-tech usable until you are forced to use it to craft new things, so assembler 1 for iron gears always but assembler 2 for sulfuric acid. And using tech that the Victorians had with some wavering, you can use turrets but use the flame turrets and no lasers. Trains only, go train mad. No cars or tanks. Spidertron (if you can get there) screw it and go for it coal-punk it up. Variant rule: Personal equipment; don't know whether the exception should be for personal equipment, honestly make it as difficult or as easy as you like, set your own limitations with this one. Feel free to ask questions below and ill answer them as I have been playing like this and it really changes the game and I highly suggest it. Victorio, [link] [comments]

Advice for expansion after first rocket launch? Posted: 25 Jun 2021 07:29 AM PDT Launched my first rocket roughly 10 playtime-hours ago, having trouble expanding much further. The biters seem to blot out the land once you get decently far from my base, and I desperately need a new iron patch. Any advice for major expansion outward? Ways to build rail networks, etc? Is it worth it to make a massive radar array/do they have a max range? [link] [comments]

Posted: 25 Jun 2021 01:34 AM PDT So I am getting into the game after some time again and started to design my factory on paper. I love playing with trains and was wondering how to design my intersections. I thought about roundabouts with shortcuts for right turns. What do you suggest? [link] [comments]
Automatic resource collection from surface Posted: 25 Jun 2021 03:22 AM PDT Hi I am using SE + K2 mod and I am looking for a solution whether it is possible to automate the collection of resources from the surface of the planet by an automated vehicle with drones. I mean collecting stones, wood, remains of meteorites, biomass. Whatever there is to find on the surface and take away. I would just build something like a reloading station where it unloads goods and gives fuel, and the car drives itself and takes resources. [link] [comments]
Posted: 24 Jun 2021 12:02 PM PDT Has anyone noticed the references to Back to the Future? Nuclear fuel rod give you 1.21 gigawatts of power fusion reactor for armor looks like the power cell from back to the future 2. Thought it was funny [link] [comments]
Any hints for discovering ore patches ind building outposts? Posted: 25 Jun 2021 07:33 AM PDT Hi, I've already spend several hundred hours playing space exploration mod and I tired up of discovering new ore patches and building outposts there. Of course I'm using several mods and blueprints, which helps me a lot, but it's still rather inconvenient for me. My scenario is the following - (using jetpack) fly over "fog of war" to discover new ore patches then -
Don't think this is, let say, effective scenario - there must be some other techniques or mods which makes life with large bases much easier. Any hints? Thanks! [link] [comments]
Posted: 24 Jun 2021 10:54 AM PDT I started my new world about 2 days ago and have basically started complying copper, iron, and started up electricity as well. Added a couple of research labs going as well. But beyond that, do any of you guys have any tips for someone thats new and starting up? Like, any specific road map to follow to make the game smoother, etc? [link] [comments]
How do I get a fully compressed belt from this? Posted: 24 Jun 2021 09:12 PM PDT I'm definitely no expert at this game, bought the game many years ago and on my 3rd playthrough (never gotten to the rocket though!). I'm trying to be less spaghetti with my factory this time around. I've got two lines of green circuit setups that (in theory) each produce a full yellow belt of green circuits, but the green circuits are being placed on just one side. I want a fully loaded belt though. With other things, I'd just divide by two and mirror onto the other side of that green circuit belt, but the 3:2 ratio prevents that, I think. Is there a way to get these two separate green circuit belts to be two fully compressed double laned belts to make it a full yellow belt instead of just one side? Please see picture below, I'm looking for something to put at the drawn in question marks to make that full belt. I thought of moving the two lines of assemblers closer and having both lines of green circuit assemblers place onto a single red belt, then splitting at the end into two yellows, but perhaps there's a better solution out there? Thanks for any help! [link] [comments]
Posted: 24 Jun 2021 07:31 PM PDT I'm planning on rebuilding my factory and a user here recommended me to keep my old factory for gathering resources for the new one. What resources should I stack? I know iron plates, copper plates, green/red chip. What else do you guys recommend? [link] [comments]
Posted: 24 Jun 2021 02:42 PM PDT I was playing Factorio and my cat was making weird noise while looking up So I tried to understand what was he doing I looked up and a bug that reminds me of a medium biter was crawling through the room trying to expand to a new base I didn't have the turrets researched yet neither I have automated firearm magazines So I grabbed a bottle and tried to get him inside it didn't work but my cat ate him Its 12 AM I am scared that they are preparing an attack while I am sleeping wish me luck [link] [comments]
