Posted: 24 Jun 2021 02:53 AM PDT TIL. I must admit I never really wondered why, but today I booted Factorio and started doing something else for a second while it was loading. It was then I suddenly realised the use of the loadingbar being visible on the keyboard (if you have that functionality that is). I have attached a video of my keyboard to this post for the people who don't know what I am talking about. While it is loading you can do something else and you can tell whether Factorio is done loading if the entire keyboard is lit up! I have only one monitor so that is actually quite useful. Posted: 24 Jun 2021 06:50 AM PDT I've started a run of the full PyAL pack and I've managed to automate red science, but I'm having issues with glass production. Specifically, the glassworks doesn't stop making glass items until it has a full stack in the output, and glass panes/petri dishes both stack up to 500 which is way more than I want in stock. I assume this is because normal machines stop working because the inserter refuses to insert, but the Glassworks takes only fluid ingredients. (The Glassworks that's doing flasks for science works fine, because the inserter stops inserting rubber corks when there's flasks left in the machine.) I don't have logistics science capsules yet, so I can't research circuits/combinators. Is there any way to manage the liquid glass better or do I have to bear with it until I can get pumps and circuits? [link] [comments] | ||

Posted: 24 Jun 2021 09:14 AM PDT hello, i saw a youtuber/ streamer (nilaus) testing/ explaining a setup and in the video he placed down an underground belt where he could assign an item or ressource which would appear out of it, so that he could fill a belt without having to setup the entire previous setup. was that a mod or how did he do that? i want to try out different builds and just fuck around without having to build everything from scratch. How to avoid deadlocks due to train limits? Posted: 23 Jun 2021 08:19 PM PDT Consider two stations: "PlasticSrc" and "PlasticDst". Each of them has a train limit set to 1. There's currently a train loading in "PlasticSrc" and a train unloading at "PlasticDst". Both of these trains have a schedule that just cycles between these two stations. Now assume that the train at "PlasticDst" finished unloading and it now wants to head to "PlasticSrc", but it's currently busy (due to train limit), so it just sits there and waits for it to become available. However, this train no longer has "PlasticDst" as its target station, so some other train somewhere has "booked" this station and it's now considered to have reached its train limit. Now, the train at "PlasticSrc" finishes loading and it wants to go to "PlasticDst", but it's already occupied by some other train. So this train just sits there waiting for that station to become available, but it will never become available, because the train that "booked" will never be able reach it, since there's a train parked there. It's a circular dependency, a stalemate. This seems like an unlikely event to happen as it requires multiple trains to align with each other in a bad way, but in reality it happens every couple hours or so and chokes my entire production. How do people solve these scheduling problems in a city-block type base managed by trains? [link] [comments] | ||

When I try to place a blueprint down, it snap to specific places like if it was a 1x1 square on a bigger grid ( I don't know if that image makes sense ). How to defend against biters at the start Posted: 24 Jun 2021 08:00 AM PDT Hey all, I am new to factorio and have played a few hours on peaceful setting up science and smelters and even starting a bus. But now I want to play without peaceful but I cannot get past the early game where you put down drills/furnaces in the beggining because large groups of biters come and destroy EVERYTHING. I can't even make power to research guns because they destroy it so quick and I am in a loop where I spawn, they kill me, I respawn and they kill me instantly. Am I just really bad?
