Posted: 26 Jun 2020 09:21 AM PDT I was at a software internship last summer and noticed that I couldn't for the life of me play factorio again. It just reminded me so much about work. At both work and factorio, I'm required to think optimally and plan ahead on how my factory should work. I nitpick small details and create a more efficient factory, otherwise, I fear it down and plan again. I wonder if, compared to games like Rimworld or Stardew Valley, this game is more stress than therapy for people, even if they're addicted to that stress. This post comes after I deleted call of duty and decided to play more Minecraft for my mental health lmao. [link] [comments]

Would you recommend I wait for the full release, or can I start my playthrough now? Posted: 26 Jun 2020 05:17 AM PDT Is there going to be any big content releases that will significantly impact my experience if I wait for the release, or can I start now? [link] [comments]
Posted: 26 Jun 2020 03:42 AM PDT Hi, right now I have several stations to refuel my train, but I want the train to do the loop between input station and output station till it is close to run out the fuel. Right now, the only way to do that for me, is create a manual loop, go to A take X, go to B drop X, go to A take X, go to B drop X, refuel. There is some way of, do this A to B 10 times and then refuel?? Without creating 21 entries. [link] [comments]
Posted: 25 Jun 2020 09:14 PM PDT I love this game! So let me just preface this post by stating very clearly I think game is amazing and I really do enjoy spending my free time playing this game regardless of how the rest of this post may sound, but I just had to get this off my chest. My friend and I finally made it to the megabase type game play! We have played the game several times and usually spend so much time building massive factories for each and every item (assuming to ourselves this will be very useful in the end) that we just burn out and never complete a game. Not this time! We added mods! We pushed through the burn! We rebuilt the whole damn base three times to accommodate space needed for such a game! Only to find out there was a much larger obstacle to overcome than burnout that up until this point we were blissfully unaware of. UPS.... I feel like there is nothing that will take the wind out of your sails quicker than being in the middle of a progression stride and hitting a technological wall. As far as playing video games that is of course. Im afraid I only set myself up for this inevitable disappointment as I created some false sense of security playing this game in the fact that thinking it is just a 2-D game. Surely my possibilities must be limitless! And so we built. Under the impression there would be no reason not to build the most ridiculous and unnecessary builds we could come up with until our hearts content. We did all the bad things. Tons of belts in every build. Hundreds of trains traveling across the world. More inserters than I would want to admit to. Of course to us, up until now having absolutely no idea how bad we were burying ourselves until it was far too late. I dont blame the game developers for us reaching this limit. I do understand computers have limits. I now understand there is reason I see so many videos, posts, and comments that discuss keeping UPS to a minimum. But boy if this wasent a difficult lesson to learn the hard way. So many hours spent building with a goal in mind to be so suddenly dashed. Faced with having to redesign our entire base, or restarting completely after so many hours. I must say, I just dont think we have it in us... [link] [comments]

What is the 'pump rate' of an Assembler 2? Posted: 26 Jun 2020 06:23 AM PDT Just thinking about things... if someone were to bring barrels of fluid into a large array of Assembler 2's unbarrelling the fluid, is there a specific rate at which the flow would top out? Or even can you put production modules on them to gain more fluid? [link] [comments]
Posted: 25 Jun 2020 07:48 PM PDT Hello Gents, I've taken a fairly long break (years) from Factorio and I would like to give modded a shot. I've Googled this and found mixed conclusions -- Mostly issues with posts regarding this topic being old as dust. What's the current set of mods that dials up the difficulty/complexity to 11? Perfectly fine with turning Factorio into a roguelike with plenty of suffering. tl;dr - please make me suffer. Thank you. [link] [comments]

Does anyone else build in a spiral pattern? Posted: 26 Jun 2020 07:09 AM PDT I'm new with only a little over 100 hours into the game, and I find myself building in a spiral pattern as opposed to the straight bus style I see a lot. I make a smelter array, then go orthogonal to that, then expand out in a spiral pattern around the array with assemblers above and below. Is this weird, or is it more natural than I would think? How do you get the new graphics? Posted: 26 Jun 2020 03:11 AM PDT Just coming back to Factorio and I heard that the icons and GUI is getting an overhaul. Is it live as of yet because the game I started has got the old graphics still. [link] [comments]
Total noob has some noob questions Posted: 25 Jun 2020 07:27 PM PDT Ok I got this game last week. Started small launched my first rocket now i wanted to start over with my new knowledge of the game. But im having a hard time. 1. I already exhausted my local iron supply, i need to build a railway to the closest one, but the railway is unstable and my base is low on iron when the train is loading. 2. Bots can't seem to transfer fast enough long distances. What's a practical way of transportation over long distances? Im constantly low on copper and iron due to this issue and its making expanding very hard. 3. My factory is currently separated production lines linked with bots alone. I find this to be not very efficient, something would be missing green circuits but the bots arent taking it despite the provider chest having 200 of it. Is there something i can do to fix it? Or is my setup impractical? [link] [comments]
Why did my nuclear power plant lose capacity? Posted: 25 Jun 2020 07:32 PM PDT Nothing changed. It had a fresh supply of fuel, but the capacity started dropping and I was having brown outs. What would cause that? [link] [comments]
Posted: 26 Jun 2020 02:13 AM PDT I frequently try and create neat solar designs, and perhaps I'm just bad at it, but some just seem impossible. this shape is the bane of my existance. A 1x3 gap, also analagous to a 1x4 or 3x4 gap (and with a bit of effort a 1x2), seems to be the root of all my problems. Every time closing a gap appears to be impossible, it leads back to this size of gap. No amount of dancing with accumulators and panels appears to solve it. My question is essentially; can anyone solve this, or is it possible to mathematically prove it as impossible? The rules are simple; imagine you have an infinite grid of solar panels, with one row shifted slightly (see image above) to form a 1x3 gap. With no consideration for substations, ratios, or anything else, is it possible to fill every tile using nothing but 3x3 solar panels and 2x2 accumulators? [link] [comments]
Mod that shows input/output ratio and productivity for machines similar to whats in Satisfactory? Posted: 25 Jun 2020 05:12 PM PDT Absolutely love the game and have spent the last few weeks checking out Satisfactory. One thing I love about that game is I can click on a machine, and see how much it needs inputed and how much it outputs per minute right there in game. It also tells me if the machine is working at a certain percent of its production capacity. Seen some old posts that mention things about calculators and such, but is there anything that allows me to click on the building and just get this information? Thanks! [link] [comments] |
