    Every day, I try to take a walk around my apartment complex to spend some time outside. I usually use my headphones and listen to music, and I also live near a college campus with buses that run regularly. So the other day, I happen to be walking near a bus stop, listening to music when a bus pulls up.

    Now I'm not sure if the noise-cancellation of my headphones was responsible, but the sound the bus made as it braked at the stop sounded just like a Factorio train. I'll admit I stopped walking for half a second and looked around quickly, as my mind instantly thought about not getting the "Watch your step" achievement (IRL in this case). I should note that I was walking on the sidewalk and so I was never in danger...but...those trains...

    New blueprints website!

    Hi all :)

    Most of you know of the website factorioprints, it's been around for a long time as the go to place to get your blueprints. But it's just not innovating enough in my opinion, so for the past couple of months I've been working on a replacement.

    I realise I'm not the only one working on a site like this, but I hope to soon offer a stable and useful way to share and find blueprints for everyone. It is usable currently but the site is still under development.

    I'm mainly looking for people to get involved, help me test unique strings, old strings, shape the website with suggestions and ideas. Also designers I encourage feedback!

    I have just started a new game after having launched the rocket in a messy world. I want to do a proper main bus right from the start and I am planning on having 2xiron and 2xcopper. to start with, this is easy as it is only 30 miners per full yellow belt, however by the time you get to blue belts, how can people fill 8 blue belts of plates? that seems like it would take many many miners?

    Production Formulas

    Does anyone happen to have some formulas that I could use in order to calculate things like:

    • Items produced a second.
    • Items needed a second.
    • Assemblers needed to supply another assembler.
    • How many assemblers an assembler could supply.
    • How many assemblers I would need to produce a certain number of items a second.

    I have quite amount of hours on factorion but ultimately I end up always getting frustrated, and leaving the game for some time. Primarily this is because I try to calculate things end up widely off and ultimately just end up feeling stupid.

    I know I could always use a factorio calculator or efficient blueprints but I would like to be able to design my own things and ways of doing things without just copying others.

    Abandoned bases mod - mod proposition

    Hi guys.

    Is there a mod to factorio that makes abandoned parts of the base look, well, abandoned if unused? I'm talking rusty, dusty, overgrown with vegetation but could be up and running if supplied with electricity.

    I know that there are some ruins mods but that't not what I'm talking about since they look exactly the same as normal structures. For example this one: https://mods.factorio.com/mod/AbandonedRuins

    I guess there aren't that mods of this kind, but don't you think that it would be neat if devs or modders implemented it?

    Some user interface settings that are not default, but make the gameplay nicer

    1. Show gun turret range while placing blueprints
    2. Show modules in beacons while in Alt mode
    3. Place ghosts (like blueprints) automatically if you don't have it in your inventory
    4. Show object tooltips delay from 0 to 10MS

    They are translated from German to English, so you might find them under a different description. I think they slightly improve gameplay

    With the changes that have been made to fluids over the past couple of years, are nuclear setups more viable for megabases now?

    Doing my first megabase in many years. From what I've read, nuclear used to be unpopular for megabases because once you scale up high enough, the UPS cost for nuclear made it untenable, and you'd be better off with massive solar farms. Has this changed since?

    Questions about the Steam Factorio

    I've been exposed to Factorio and other factory games for a while now, and I was thinking about picking up the game in the near future. I'm probably going to buy it through steam, but before I do I want to know a few things:

    1. Does the Steam version go on sale often, if ever? Not looking for a massive discount, but I would totally get the game for about 25 dollars. However if this is unreasonable I can wait to save up and buy the whole thing for 30 dollars.
    2. I know fully well that the vanilla experience is best to start, but does the Steam version support mods?

    Can I somehow manage blueprints that are part of bigger blueprints without updating every single blueprint individually?

    Or alternatively suggest better workflows for me.

    I'm designing modular setups that are meant to be used together, but individual pieces can also be used by themselves.

    Currently I have only the big blueprint of modular setup, and if I need part of it I have to:

    1. save game
    2. load test world
    3. paste blueprint
    4. cut part of if
    5. edit and save temporary blueprint
    6. load game
    7. use blueprint
    8. delete blueprint

    Lets say that I have a bigger (10 x 10) blueprint

    Ok so I really like to think about all the oscillations going on in the game. I'm a physicist (in the little free time I have with my job at the factory, of course) and this stuff naturally attracts me. Especially train bases develop really complex periodic behavior with lots of coupled oscillations. I don't have a perfect screenshot right now but I'm talking about oscillations like these:

    I'd love to analyze them a bit. You should be able to fourier transform them and see pretty "clearly" (well, maybe not really) the periods of different subprocesses, like how often a certain train arrives to pick things up, maybe also assembler crafting time, things like that. I don't think there's a real point to this other than me liking factorio and graphs.

    However, I can't find a good way to export these curves. There are some very old mods that don't seem to be supported anymore and that's pretty much all I could find. Does anyone have a tool or an easy way to do this? (While I do know some "experimentalist's python" (i.e. data analysis), I'm really far from being a programmer or even a very computer-savvy person)

    I assume the raw data (meaning the one seen in the 5s window) is not stored for 50 hours, so you'd probably have to export data every 5 seconds? The amount of data should be very manageable, though.

    Help would be greatly appreciated!
