So I handloaded an entire Biter...

    Posted: 13 Jan 2021 06:28 PM PST

Heyo! Just wanted to share this with the community – my husband has been a huge fan of Factorio and its many mods (such as LTN and Seablock) for years and after much curiosity (and not much to do socially, thanks Covid), I decided to purchase the game for myself to check it out. It didn't take very long for me go, "Aww heck, these little buggy critters are cute. Do I really have to kill them?" to, "Hey! Stop eating my factory, I will DESTROY YOUR ENTIRE SPECIES!"

Around November last year, I started making this nerdy custom plush for the hubby as a Christmas present. It's a bit late for that now (time management fail ftw), but the lil bugger is finally done!

Nibbles the Biter Plush has been made out of: - A crapton of thread - Shannons Cuddle Minky 3 (Taupe + Peacock blue) - Polyurethane foam core + plushie stuffing + stiff felt shapes in the eye panels - 2mm Galvanised wire wrapped in polar fleece (for the leg armatures) - Tamika Epoxy Putty sculpted eyes - Citadel brand acrylic paints (Abaddon black, White scar) - Cheapass plastic spray sealer from Bunnings Warehouse (any will work)

Pictures can be found here:- https://imgur.com/gallery/quxOtDh

NOTE: There's only one for now – this is a noncommercial work of fanart which will never be sold. I cannot automate this process as I love the game myself and would rather people purchase and support the official content and merchandise, should it ever become available.

In the event that people would like the pattern I drafted to create this lil critter for themselves, I would be more than happy to share it for free-use, personal gifting purposes. However, it's really not a beginner-tier plush, and would require some pre-existing sewing and constrution knowledge. Would anyone be interested?

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you like him. =3

My new favorite blueprint: Throughput measurement (explanation in comments)

Just an appreciation post for everything about this game

    Posted: 13 Jan 2021 11:01 PM PST

Props to Wube for creating such an amazing game that works even on dated pc hardware from many years ago

I discovered this game back in early .17 and took various "breaks" from it, by playing and finishing a few other games that caught my eye during that time. However, this is the only one that I find myself repeatedly coming back to. The replay value and hours/dollar are simply unmatched, and it has raised the bar for what I expect from other games. This has saved me a bunch of money as a result of shrugging most of them off

And during this time of worldwide PC parts shortages (esp. GPU's) I'm even more grateful that this game runs perfectly fine on my dated RX 570 and that I'm not forced to pay ridiculous amounts just to be able to play this game cough 2077 cough. Hell, I can even run a megabase on my previous rig, which sports a first-gen i7 860 and a 750ti

So thank you devs for such an engrossing game with insanely low spec requirements, and thanks to the mod community as well for the infinitely expansive replayability

Hmm I dunno about this game. Some of it makes no sense. (This is a joke. Beginner (me) found it funny to see transport belts carrying transport belts.)

6h10min in. Increased iron plate production even further, automated red ammo and engines, explored the map, took out some biter nests.

    Not a problem

Thing I noticed while building an oil blueprint. Lubricant barrels are available before lubricant.

    Feature Idea: Reversable inserters

    Posted: 14 Jan 2021 07:47 AM PST

So I realized one thing that would be super useful would be if we could reverse inserter operation using logistics control. For example, this would be great for Koravex loops, or creating buffers on production lines.

Any good “blind” LP videos on YouTube for 1.0/1.1?

    Posted: 13 Jan 2021 11:12 PM PST

I have this weird fetish, that I sometimes enjoy watching YT LP videos of smart people who try Factorio for the first time and then learn to play it, figuring things out.

Any recommendations for such recent videos, for 1.0 or 1.1?

    Malicous user: SirLosalot

    Posted: 13 Jan 2021 01:13 PM PST

I've got a months-long game going with my 11-y.o. nephew. I never bothered to password protect it because why would I need to do that? Because, it turns out, internet people suck, even in factorio. SirLosalot jumped in and deconstructed our whole base. Fortunately had a quicksave that was pretty recent

So, just a warning about that user for other normal people - watch out

For SirLosalot if you see this: Reconsider the kind of human you want to be.

There was an update for the blueprints extensions mod, but when restarting the game it gets stuck on 95% and this message appears, how do I get to the file that contains all my mods? Then I’ll just delete that one to (hopefully) fix it.
