I know it's really space inefficient and reeks of shortcuts, but this is my first official logistic science automaton, and I'm pretty proud of it!

My early game Krastorio 2 organized spaghetti. First time I've played a game with no bus.

What are your default blueprints you always bring with you on a new world?

    Posted: 15 Jul 2020 09:23 PM PDT

I'm on my second play through after taking a 2+ year break and having never launched a satellite - I'm tackling creation of my main bus and really starting to get into rail networks and it's become increasingly more clear how poorly organized everything is - any attempt to lay things out cleanly in sequence on my bus always inevitably turns into a myriad of clean areas separated by junk drawers and backwards belts :)

That said, I know that if/when I start a new world I will likely take many blueprints of clean layouts I've found on this one and better start with that one. Thinking things like:

    • Tile-able rail junctions and straights
    • Rail way stations and proper balance unloading
    • Circuit crafting areas
    • Modue crafting areas
    • Really any common non-trivial crafting area
    • Solar arrays
    • Defensive structure layouts
    • A bot based mall, producing one of almost every item.

    Weird overlay

    Hello everyone

So, I was in the progress of figuring out how to show the FPS / UPS rate, I have succesfully enabled this overlay. But, now I have a new problem which I don't know how to fix!Factorio shows a debug overlay for every GUI element I hover my mouse over.

    It logs GUI debug values.

I really want to shut it off, but I don't know what tabs I clicked through to get here.

For anyone who has this problem in the future

    Industrial Revolution for 0.18+?

    Posted: 16 Jul 2020 03:41 AM PDT

I was looking through the mod browser, searching for some new mods to play and remembered Industrial Revolution. The last thing I had heard about it was that Deadlock wasn't planning on adding 0.18 Experimental support but was considering updating once 0.18 would become stable.

So I dug a bit through the deleted mod page, toxic forums (I don't agree with Deadlock's decisions but some people were really, really angry about it to the point of personally insulting him) and found this post in which someone mentions that under the license Deadlock used there was a section which would suggest that simply updating the mod to work for a new version of Factorio is within the boundaries set by the license.

A few days ago a mod got published which updates IR to 0.18. In the discussion section people are warning the author that the license doesn't allow this but doesn't the linked section allow this? I have only heard good things about IR and it would be a shame if it could only be played on older versions of Factorio once 1.0 comes out in a month.
