    Factory In Your Pocket Challenge

    Posted: 14 Oct 2020 10:28 PM PDT

It is possible, using 4 specific mods, to make a rocket launching factory that you can put into an inventory slot. Taking inspiration from Zisteau's Recursion Recursion series, the challenge is to make said factory.

    The Mods:

    • Factorissimo2. The core of this insanity.
    • Waterfill. Allows you to place water tiles, including inside factory buildings.
    • Quarry. Mine ores without an ore patch. Waterfill and this are what make the "in your pocket" part possible.
    • Skandragon's Fusion Robots. It's not entirely clear if infinite power robots are required to do this, but it might well be given the resource demand.

This is certainly ridiculous, but man it would be interesting to see anyone pull it off.

Reached My Goal of 250 Science Per Minute.

Reached My Goal of 250 Science Per Minute.

    Yay

I think I'm done with the game for a while. A megabase would take a lot of work... 100 hours in and I just now discovered the "connect to logistics network" button hah... I thought people who used lots of logic in their bases were running wires everywhere. Turns out it's wireless.

I played about 200 hours back in 1.14 - 1.15. The game has definitely improved.

What does the "waiting for update" debug stat mean?

    Posted: 15 Oct 2020 02:05 AM PDT

I play a multiplayer game with a friend. I have a potato computer, he has a decent one, so he is hosting the game.

Mostly it runs at 60ups and i'm about 7 ticks behind the server (which seems normal in multyplayer). But sometimes it spikes to insane numbers (800-ish).

I used the timing debug option to try and figure out what is causing the lag and noticed "waiting for update" being around 200ms during those spikes. Everything else still sums to below 16.66ms, so its clear "waiting for update" is the culprit.

All timing stats are pretty self explanatory, except this one. What does it refer to?

Edit: just in case it's relevant. I run the steam-linux version on Fedora 32.

My First Base to win me a game.

    Posted: 15 Oct 2020 02:44 AM PDT

a friend told me to post this base on here cause its an "organised spaghetti belt" base so i guess here you go. The only mods i used were Max Rate Calculator, cause i didn't want to do the math myself, and squeak through because its convenient and doesn't change anything substantually.

After 621 Hours of play ( many idle or multi-tasking) I've finally gotten no spoon!

    Posted: 14 Oct 2020 11:59 AM PDT

After getting "There is no spoon" I have a new appreciation for speedrunners

    Posted: 14 Oct 2020 12:39 PM PDT

I used a guide to get there, although I didn't use a pre-made map string, so I didn't have pre-set layouts to copy from, but I "copied" the general strategy/approach.

In the end I did it in around 7 hours 40 minutes, the last few minutes were really tense as I didn't notice there were no LDS getting to the silo.

Even with the guide I only just managed it in time. Speedrunners like Phoenix, Nefrums and Anti-elitz do this all in around 1 hour 45 minutes. It took me that long to get blue science up and running.

The amount of things to keep in mind while trying to go fast is crazy, for example I lost a while because I hadn't read one line of the guide about buffering frames, so it came to yellow science and I had none ready.

If I were trying to go fast I'd have also wiped the run because when I switched smelters from a normal chest to a provider chest I forgot to limit it, so all my steel and stone production was diverted to producing a thousand smelters. Luckily I took so long I still had what I needed anyway (!).

It also made me realise how much effort and time must go into planning speedruns because I found myself losing a very long time to just running back to pick up more belt because my mall was miles from where I was most the time.

I'm really happy I just made it in time because I really didn't want to restart. (Also it was in game elapsed for me, it wasn't close to 8 hours real-time, as I spread it over night and also paused if I needed to read notes).

Given it's the "rarest" achievement tracked on steam I should really set about getting the rest, that's given me a new target and reason to play.

    First artillery outpost attempt.

    Posted: 15 Oct 2020 07:35 AM PDT

Wanted to make my own design, something that doesn't need power. I was pretty sure i got my blueprint right, but as soon as i stopped chaos ensued when my wagons started firing. I quickly plopped my blueprint down, watched in satisfaction as my bots built it fast then watched in horror when i saw my offload pump from the fluid wagon obviously needs power to operate. I did not have any more pipes with me so i started to deconstruct the pipe system to hopefully get fluid flowing but then i saw there's no hope. I just stood there and let them eat me.

    Belt balancing

    Posted: 15 Oct 2020 04:15 AM PDT

Hi all, does anyone have any easy tips on balancing belts, when I did my first playthrough I just had lots of miners to one to belt but didn't do any balancing but when I see youtubers they have lots of balancing from mining to every time they use a belt on the bus.

Does anyone have any examples how to balance 2, 3 and 4 belts?

    Thanks

Trains, Planes, and Automobiles (Krastorio 2)

    Posted: 15 Oct 2020 06:26 AM PDT

I'm playing Krastorio 2 and am just at the cusp of fusion power, and my power as it is just doesn't cut it. Where do I need to go for power? I was going to replace my solar panels with the MK2, but they're larger than the MK1. I would put more steam, but boilers let off SO much pollution. I haven't started on anything fusion or nuclear-related, so if there is a better source for power I don't want to waste precious space on a subpar power system. So my question is, before being able to generate matter, how should I generate power. (also a sidenote, does anybody have a tileable kovarex enrichment blueprint? all the ones I find are huge, untileable, or is a whole nuclear setup. love you guys!)

Graphical error on biters when they look down?

    Posted: 15 Oct 2020 06:19 AM PDT

I had a couple of mods installed, and noticed that the biters looked like this (Link below) I dont know what could be causing it, so I disabled all mods to slowly try and reenable. But even with every mod disabled, the models still look like this after a reload. Has anybody else encountered this?
