JStG Factorio beginner's guide to 1.0, part 0: free demo, system requirements, installation and devs Posted: 08 Aug 2020 12:27 AM PDT Factorio is a scifi sandbox base building game about building, automating and maintaining a factory. When playing with biters turned on in, there are also aliens on the planet who will attack you. Factorio is due to hit 1.0 on Friday August 14th 2020. Factorio is the second most highly rated game on SteamDB. These trailers both have old graphics, and I'd be suprised if we didn't see new ones for 1.0 You can get the full demo here. The demo contains System requirements: Minimum: Recommended: Purchess and instalation: Factorio can be bought DRM free directly, and the devs will give you a free steam key. It can also be bought on steam, humble bundle and gog. If bought on steam it can be installed there, if bought on the website you can download here. Experimental vs Stable. Factorio's experimental versions are incredibly stable and have more features. Occassionally the experimental version is the same as the stable version. Steam automatically downloads the stable version, unless you opt into the beta by opening game properties and going to properties, beta, and click on the version ending in .x which should be called latest experimental version. Developers Factorio's developers (Wube software)... in my mind the gold standard. They're actively supporting modding (frequently fixing bugs and crashes that can only occour as a result of heavy modding). They're responsive, listen to the community (they have included a number of features that started off as community mods, such as the upgrade planner). They do a weekly blog on Friday Fun Facts to give updates. [link] [comments]
Just joined the 1.6% club (no spoon) Posted: 07 Aug 2020 05:39 PM PDT I have owned this game for years (pre 0.14) and completed all of the other achievements, but today a co-worker and I had the day off of work, so we decided to finally check that one off in a MP world. Launched a rocket in 7:30:04. Feels great to finally do it, and brought back a little of the joy of having something concrete to build towards in the game. [link] [comments]

Need help with learning large scale Nuclear Posted: 08 Aug 2020 01:43 AM PDT Hey all, hoping this is the right place to ask. Been playing for probably 400-500 hours now, launched my first rocket about 350 hours ago and have been messing around ever since. I am now working on my first major "post-game" base, starting at 90 SPM to launch the first rocket, and now pushing towards 450 SPM using a larger train block system. The first major challenge I'm coming across in making this base is the energy requirements. In reaching a rocket I was always able to mostly use solar energy, setting up a pretty basic single reactor setup in order to cover periods of excess use. Now that I'm reaching higher energy requirements, the setups for Nuclear are starting to really challenge me. Between the extremely high water consumption, buffering steam to not waste fuel cells, and the difficulty of fitting all these things together cleanly, I'm really struggling with making a larger and efficient nuclear setup. A lot of words all to say, I'm hoping people can give me some major tips without just straight up sending me blueprints to use or anything like that. I'm definitely willing to look at some screenshots and stuff, but I get the feeling a lot of you understand the desire to figure things out for myself! So, any tips you can offer that will help me overcome this: transporting steam away from the reactors or putting turbines directly on boilers, there's a lot of different ways to approach this setup and I'm stuck lol. PSA: TIL - Space "White" Science Packs: Use 'em or lose 'em! Posted: 07 Aug 2020 10:50 AM PDT I had four rocket silos set up in a row, feeding one common belt that brings all "white" science packs to my labs. I had assumed that when the rocket silo was too "full" of output product, like assemblers, it would stop making more and go into "Item Production Overload" mode, essentially putting it on pause until there's space in the belt to offload to. Just now I watched a rocket silo, that had 2k science packs in it, launch a rocket. I expected to see 4k science packs after that, but was horrified when that number stubbornly and arrogantly stayed at 2k. I've set up buffer chests for now, but will have to figure out something with a circuit network later on. And now... A moment of silence for the tens of thousands of science packs lost. About to start a new factory - should I wait for the 1.0 release? Posted: 08 Aug 2020 03:08 AM PDT I was just wondering if I can upgrade any current factory to 1.0 or if I have to start from scratch on the 1.0 release. [link] [comments]

Is it possible to put down a blueprint and instantly build it, without bots Posted: 07 Aug 2020 11:12 PM PDT I've just seen this beautiful post and thought "aaaah, pre-chore factorio". Then I thought, "well wouldn't blueprints help with the little chores like building a smelter setup etc." Problem is, I already have internalized everything up until including blue. So putting down a blueprint to fill out myself does not really help. And the personal Rockport comes later. Is there a way to use a blueprint in buildingrange and instead of putting down ghosts, building the stuff? [link] [comments]
Posted: 07 Aug 2020 10:58 PM PDT edit2: answered On calculator calc screenshot: https://i.imgur.com/hEBM5Af.png calc settings: https://i.imgur.com/ls39PE1.png but when I build this in game it only requires only 1 Copper Cable assembler for 6 Advanced Circuit assemblers you can see that there are extra cables : https://i.imgur.com/XIX62GV.png game is vanilla no mods, version 0.18.45 . what am I missing ? edit: added game version which from what I understood does not matter from 0.17.6 onwards [link] [comments]
Posted: 07 Aug 2020 08:36 PM PDT So if you go into the character menu and use the scroll wheel on one of the bars your game crashes (i havent done much testing but it crashed on the green bar by going back and forth quickly) [link] [comments] |
