Coal Liquification - Won't Load Coal?

Coal Liquification - Won't Load Coal?

I have this setup (picture below), and it doesn't seem to want to work. If I select and reselect the coal liquification on the oil refineries it will start loading coal for about 10 seconds then the inserters will stop inserting the coal. Everything seems to work just fine otherwise...just can't get it to keep going.

    Any ideas?

You can make a server on GCP and turn it on and off with a telegram bot powered by Cloud Functions for a super cheap shared server experience

    Posted: 06 Aug 2020 07:12 AM PDT

    1. Create a VM and install the factorio server. Then, set it as as systemctl service with autostart on boot. Set it to load the last save.
    2. Write a python script using python-telegram-bot. Set it to be triggered by http calls and to respond only to authorized users (you can stick the names in the code, or use Datastore.
    3. Write a function to turn on and off the VM using google APIs. The bot will use this to fulfilll requests.
    4. Deploy the cloud function
    5. Use twitter APIs to set the bot webhook to the cloud function http trigger. Set the function to public.

Keep in mind that it is not the super safest of solutions. You can make it marginally more secure by requiring some sort of keyword from the user, so that the Cloud function webhook won't be abused if found. You can use GCP monitoring functions to alert you of weird stuff happening if you care about that.

If anyone is interested, I can post more details.

Thanks to all of the community, it is nice to contribute something for once.

    Fresh start

    Posted: 06 Aug 2020 03:13 AM PDT

    Hi all,

It has been quite a while since i've played factorio the last time. Even before nuclear power. Do you guys have some beginning tips/tricks aside from the obvious bus design haha.

Maybe best world options like resources or so. And some good starting designs or something :)

    Thanks!

    (Advanced) circuit network question

    Posted: 06 Aug 2020 08:32 AM PDT

For a... project I'm evaluating possibilities, and it so happens that everything would be so easy if I knew one specific thing:

You know that when you set the filters of an inserter via the circuit network they're not grabbing any of the items that are > 1, but a single one, I guess it's the one with the lowest/largest in-game item ID but that's unimportant the important part is that it's deterministic.

Is there a way, using the circuit network, to do the same, that is, to take a signal of e.g. 1 Copper and 2 Iron and turn it into 1 Copper (or Iron, if that is what the filter inserter would be set to), or a custom signal?

Ideally without using too many combinators because if that's the case, or it's impossible in general, I think I'm going to bite the bullet and use some bitwise operations. For a project. That, or reduce the scope but why would one do that.

Any good production and utility science pack blueprints?

    Posted: 06 Aug 2020 07:57 AM PDT

Hey, me and my friend who's new to Factorio have a savegame together and we're looking into production and utility sciences for stuff like the Kovarex enrichment process and artillery. I searched for some good blueprints but they all seem to be from before 1.17, so they are all incorrect. Does anyone know of any good ones? We're looking for something around 60-100 SPM but anything lower we can just make multiple of.

    I've created simple wagon-based kovarex

    Posted: 05 Aug 2020 11:59 AM PDT

At start you can place just one centrifuge, going your way up to 4 that can fit here.

One of them will require ~90 U-235 before you'll get some to yourself, but set it to 100 x centrifuges for good measure.

Put your uranium processing and fuel reprocessing products from the top.

The advantage of using wagon instead of chests is that you can plop much more inserters to that, so it's easier to design. If you want to scale, just put more wagons ;)

This system shouldn't loop, but if it does, force the stack size of filter inserters to 1.

Don't forget to set the train to "automatic", so the station can read it's contents.

I know it can be made just with belt-side-tricks, but I prefer this, as it doesn't require a buffer to start working.

    What do you guys think?
