- I always need ages to find my car where I left it. Call me paranoid, but I think this time it was intentionally hiding from me under the electric furnace.
- I think I've made some good progress after a few hours of play. mmmm... That spaghetti. Any tips anyone can share to help me expand the base? I'm trying to keep each process separated to lower confusion.

- When my metals array backs up, my geodes all back up light green for some reason. 60ish hours into Landblock, just took apart my red/green spaghetti and now building my buss of many colored metals. 5 down, about 8 bazillion to go. Don't look too hard, the spacing is evolving.

Posted: 20 Nov 2019 11:47 AM PST My wife was reading a book about fish to my daughter (she turns 4 in January). We got to the point of explaining what a school of fish was. I told her its big groups of fish. The daughter pops off right away "Like the biters in Factorio?!?!". The wife and i laughed a lot! Proud dad moment right there! Edit: Got my first ever silver! Thanks random internet people for liking an normal part of everyday life! [link] [comments]

How to make the game look "better" to introduce my wife to factorio? Posted: 21 Nov 2019 05:51 AM PST She like the idea of the game, but says it looks really bad, "too polluted and dirty-factory-like". What I've found so far/ideas:
Would probably be played without bitters, at least at first. If you have any other in game option/mod/idea let me know :) [link] [comments]

Why do biters attack my rails? Posted: 21 Nov 2019 01:04 AM PST I thought that biters only attack military buildings and things that obstruct their way, like for example a chest wall. But they also seem to attack rails for no apparent reason. Is this planned? Edit: The rails are out in the open, with no nests really close to them and I haven't eesearched artillery yet [link] [comments]
Why does my train stacker not work properly? Posted: 21 Nov 2019 04:43 AM PST As seen here, every now and then a train tries to take an occupied rail on my stacker, even tho there are free rails right next to the occupied ones. Entry to the stacker rails are regular traffic lights, exit with chain lights. I have two stackers on my current megabase that have this problem. It's rare, but it happens maybe once every few hours and if i don't catch it immediately, the whole base grinds to a halt. at first i thought, maybe it's due to trains leaving different parts of my base at the same time and both route through that rail, the first one to arrive occupies it, the 2nd one to arrive still for some reason tries to use the same rail and not reroute to the next one. If this is the case, how do i work around it? any help appreciated, thanks. [link] [comments]
The Subtle Differences Between Engineering and Operations Posted: 20 Nov 2019 02:34 PM PST This game really appeals to me. I'm on my way to becoming an industrial operator and this game reflects my chosen career path in so many ways. That being said after lurking around on this sub for quite a while I see many posts from people who enjoy the engineering side of factorio and I read stories of how this game has affected their careers. These people are quite talented at building large optimized factories that are very impressive to look at. This kind of playstyle is very similar to their job and they should be commended for it. Now where these engineers will end up designing factories, refineries, and other large centers of automation irl, operators will be the ones tasked to work and sometimes live in these factories. This job is primarily focused on troubleshooting, having a detailed understanding of what each individual part is doing, and knowing what to do when something breaks down which this game simulates beautifully. The subtle differences I mentioned in the title are hard to spot and are definitely not universally true by any means. Where engineering types are typically faster at designing and optimizing than operator types, operator types are typically faster at problem solving and troubleshooting than engineering types. Conversely engineers might over scope their builds and leave smaller problems become bigger problems and operators might be wasteful in their builds (my nuclear setup sure isn't optimized). I want to hear from this community. Which play style do you tend to? Engineer? Operator? Are you an operator or an engineer irl? If so, how has this game affected your careers? Operators, what bad ass process saves in game have you pulled off with the skills you have learned on the job? Does any of this make you interested in operations? Thanks for reading/commenting [link] [comments]
