Posted: 06 Dec 2020 04:17 AM PST For quick context I am a youtuber (not posting my link unless asked) I discovered factorio due to another youtuber playing it in one of his videos and while waiting for a particularly dense video to export in premiere pro I started factorio... This game has probably halved my youtube productivity, it's so addictive that sometimes I wonder if it's digitally inserting crack into my brain via WiFi. I've progressed as far as the electronic age and restarted about 4 times each time I enter a new age I realise I could have made my base better and more efficient and restart to incorporate future planning for what I've learned. Spectacularly deep game and honestly very relaxing and therapeutic. I decided not to read any guides or watch videos for help and learn as I go and was incredibly surprised at just how much there is to learn. This is probably the deepest, most intricate game I've played in over 10 years. Well done Devs [link] [comments]

Where is the rocket counter in 1.1 ? Posted: 06 Dec 2020 02:16 AM PST Usually the rocket counter popped up after launching the first rocket. I can not find it in 1.1, where did it go ? [link] [comments]

Posted: 05 Dec 2020 06:35 PM PST I've released a new mod, Superheating. It's designed to add a tier of power generation that falls in between steam engines and nuclear power, and it does this by adding superheating boilers that take 165°C steam and heat it to 465°C, which can then be fed to turbines (unlocked by an earlier, pre-nuclear tech). The superheaters are more efficient than boilers (1.8 MW of fuel consumption for 3.6 MW of heating)*, so there's a reason to use them over just clone-stamping more steam engines. The higher-temperature steam means you get 3x the power per unit of water/steam, so it's more practical to power outposts by shipping in water or steam by train. The mod also adds liquid-fuelled versions of the boiler and superheater, so you could power your oil field directly off its crude output - although it would be more efficient to refine the fuel to light oil. The liquid fuel values are based on the yield when those fluids are converted to solid fuel, so the saving is in not having to do that conversion. In addition, this mod only sets fuel values if another mod hasn't done it first. * The technobabble handwaving justification is they don't boil the water from liquid so don't have to provide energy for the phase change, but really it's all about gameplay. Speed Modules mk3 + Electric Mining // Yellow, Red, Blue Belts? Posted: 06 Dec 2020 04:22 AM PST Hello friends, Question please - if I were to put Speed Module 3s (edit: I meant the green ones, efficiency) into my electric miners, how do I calculate how much miners to fill a yellow, red, and blue belt of ore respectively? Previously 30/60/90...? I'm looking to re-do my mine fields now that I've reached a good equilibrium with rocket launching and module making. Appreciate any suggestion for great efficient mining! EDIT: And I forgot - would I also use beacons? Best, J [link] [comments]

Posted: 06 Dec 2020 08:00 AM PST Saw a really useful picture/video here recently which shows a set up where you can set up splitters off a main belt to remove a belts resources each time you split it off. You can easily reach a point to see where the 4 beltsworth have been used and need more resources again on the main belt.... Anyone possibly show this set up as im finding rebalancing really tricky to work out... Thanks [link] [comments]
Kiwi looking for Factorians to Megabase with. Posted: 05 Dec 2020 07:57 PM PST Hi fellow factorians, I am attempting my first megabase with a goal of 6k SPM. I am bored of playing alone so I hope others might be interested to join. I have a small base that is working on infinite research and have ample solar power constructed. The server hosting is in AU, and the optimal play time is ~7-10pm NZDT (UTC+13) on weekdays. Discord link https://discord.gg/pRGC5aJDTJ [link] [comments]
Posted: 06 Dec 2020 07:48 AM PST I just got back into factorio after 6 months and nights seem lees dark and shorter. Is this true or did i miss remember? [link] [comments]
How do you concrete your megabases? Posted: 06 Dec 2020 07:46 AM PST Let's say I'm willing to sink in the stone and iron to make the literal millions of reinforced concrete needed to patch the universe in concrete. How do you do that? When I build a megabase, I have dozens of small robot networks. So I can't really have construction robots do it. Doing it with my personal roboport wherever I go would mean my robots are constantly low on battery and can't perform the tasks I would like to prioritize. So, how do you guys concrete your megabases? What simple solution am I missing? [link] [comments]
