    This is not the way

    This is not the way

I tried the only wrong way how to play, that is:

    • All items must be crafted by hand (if possible)
    • Items not possible to craft by hand must be created in single factory (per item type)
    • No belts
    • No miners (so all resources mined by hand)
    • Single furnace
    • Single oil pump, single refinery
    • Single lab
    • Single roboport
    • Single boiler for electricity
    • (No bitters, max. resources)

All together it took 935 in-game hours. (I played at cca 300x speed.)

    No belts, no miners

The walls allowed me to travel at 300x speed

Deathworld is surprisingly easy if you deconstruct before biters attack.

    Posted: 05 Dec 2020 01:26 AM PST

After getting to oil and mines rather quickly without killing a single biter in a few different games, I decided to go back to a more militant approach and try holding a base with turrets, etc. Wow what a waste of iron.

Just tearing your electric miners down before the pollution cloud invites a biter invasion and moving somewhere else to research, cut down trees, smelt, or just find another patch to pull from is almost trivial. I can get about 5K ore per pull. Once you get to mines, it's game over for the biters. Only takes about ~9K iron, 4K copper at most with this approach.

Almost seems like wube should nerf this or something.

    Multiplayer Connection issues in 1.1.x

    Posted: 05 Dec 2020 08:52 AM PST

Some friends and I recently updated our mulitplayer world to 1.1.x, and when we played on wednesday (2nd dec) we had no issues. But trying to connect today we just get stuck on "waiting for the server to save the map". Has anyone else encountered this issue? any potential solutions? (We've tried hosting through public, multiple restarts.

We also had the same problem hosting other worlds

(Screenie: https://imgur.com/P80PhCD, sometimes the top bar gets stuck at 100% completion)

    Resource handling on mega bases

    Posted: 05 Dec 2020 04:54 AM PST

How are resources handled on mega bases? I assume requiring tons of ore would deplet ore patches even on highest richness pretty fast - and moving mining sources every few hours seems not very fun at all. Infinite resource mod? Or do I miss something?

    I have two questions

    Posted: 05 Dec 2020 03:28 AM PST

How do people expand beyond a simple main bus base?

    Posted: 04 Dec 2020 10:15 PM PST

How do you pick up things when running over the belts?

    Posted: 05 Dec 2020 07:27 AM PST

I keep removing the belts and then putting new ones back down

    Ship mod

    Ship mod

Took me a while, but finally got the ship mod down! First automated oil drilling rig, with automatic ship refueling (was almost as much of a hassle as lining up the ship to the pumps). Hope they incorporate ships into vanilla someday!

Gotten attached to my base, are there any ways of getting unlimited resource pools on an existing save?

    Posted: 05 Dec 2020 07:08 AM PST

    Nice, long title, I know.

My problem here is that I have fallen head over heels for Factorio and I am looooooving the spaghetti cooking and expanding to new places and, well, everything about the game.

My problem is that I don't want my resource pools to end, I just want to bring in more, and more, and more, and more. How do I make my resources neverending? :)

I know it is kind of cheating, but I just love this base so much, even though it is an un-optimized mess.
