- My live desktop wallpaper, its quite nice to just get your eyes lost in..
- Challenged myself by launching a rocket using only a 100x100 map. I put some resources in the top and bottom and a water source in the top right. Spaghetti galore! Any tips are welcome.
- Stack Size Provider for vanilla Factorio. Stack sizes are frequently necessary when you need to calculate how many slots are taken up by specific items. This contraption takes any item signal/s you give it and returns that signal with the value of its stack size. (Blueprint inside)
- Hopefully the beginning of something beautiful: bootstrapping to the stars with Bob's and Angels, AAI Industry, and Space Exploration mods.
- Factorio average playtime
- One ought be able to process biter carcasses into oil.
- How do I play with new players?
- I have an unhealthy obsession with clearing out ore patches. Built a 2K SPM in order to clear out ore so I can build a 5K SPM base. I intentionally didn't research mining production to clear them out faster.

How do I play with new players? Posted: 17 Dec 2019 01:35 AM PST I feel like I'm a control freak in this game and my friends just started playing. I see all these small things like 3 steam engines on one boiler or derailing/obstructing the main bus. How do I relax and let them figure everything out? They have about 10 hours of playtime. They played together about a year ago and never got to blue science. Is there anyway to catch them up or something? Should I just play single player? The process of learning new ways to automate was the best part of the game for me. I don't want to spoil it or ruin it for them. [link] [comments]

Sience lab fully beaconed max consumption? Posted: 17 Dec 2019 07:13 AM PST Hi, can someone help me out, please? I'm trying to figure out how many science packs a fully beaconed science lab (24x Speed3+ 2x Prod3) will consume and how many can be fed off one blue belt, while researching infinite mining productivity at 1 / 60 secs. Test map production graph shows ~23.5/min. But I really don't get why. Does someone have a formula to figure it out? [link] [comments]

Posted: 16 Dec 2019 11:17 AM PST This weekend me and my friend I just bought the game for. We just did a run of striaght 22 hours no breaks. We lost track of time and lost the ability of sleep or tired. We lost our Saturday night and Sunday morning to the evening. Time flew that felt only like 6-7 hours. Now the words people say at work right now keeps reminding me of things from Factorio. My brain is Factorio. [link] [comments]
There is no way to visually see a power pole connected to steam engines for new players. Posted: 16 Dec 2019 11:52 AM PST I introduced a friend to factorio. He did not know how to connect power to his steam engine/did not know if it was connected. I propose a the devs introduce a place where the copper wire can be seen connecting to the engine. This way new players will know they are setting up their electricity correctly. [link] [comments]
Posted: 17 Dec 2019 06:56 AM PST I have been playing on my world the last year and it has gotten pretty big, it takes at least 10min via train to get from most outposts to my main base. The problem I'm having is that the rail link that also has the power lines is getting destroyed by biters and cutting off the power to my outposts causing them to get over run by biters. Once I get to the outpost to repair it the same thing happens to another outpost on the other side of my base, so I'm spending 100% of my time repairing outposts and not expanding my factory. I have put walls and laser turrets around all my rail tracks but they still get over run. Anyone have any ideas? [link] [comments]
Posted: 17 Dec 2019 06:48 AM PST I've been away for a few days and have been playing on my laptop. Normally my play style is to go casual and build large usually working things out as I go each time, bar nuclear. My laptop has fairly poor thermals though which results in somewhat severe CPU throttling making large bases pretty unplayable. It seemed like a good idea to mop up the last five achievements I'd been putting off: Logistics Embargo, No Time for Chitchat, There is No Spoon, Getting on Track Like a Pro and Lazy Bastard. The time based ones I'd been putting off for so long because they go so far against my normal play style but the other two were literally because I am a Lazy Bastard. First up was Getting on Track Like a Pro which I thought was going to be the most frantic (it was). I had a couple of 20 minute practice starts and then brute forced it on the first full run in a couple of minutes over an hour. Think I could definitely improve on that time by 10 minutes if I prepared with blueprints. On that topic, the next cab off the rank was There is No Spoon & Logistics Embargo (picking up Chit-Chat in the process). For these I utilised The BlindSniper's blueprint book just so I didn't have to think (I was on holiday after all). I played with biters a lot in the 0.12 days but these days I'm just tired of them. I cheesed the map settings to have them on, but limited the map size so the whole thing was starter area. No regrets. Hand placing everything I managed to scrape that through in just shy of six hours https://imgur.com/a/RpLmuQi. Side note, For Logistic's Embargo I'm aware you can use construction bots (with passive provider & storage chests) not using them at all was my compromise for cheesing biters. A quick side note on that book, it's pre the change from solid fuel to sulphur for blue science. It's easy enough to make that change, you just need to know about it. There are also a couple of interesting choices that can be optimised so it's not just a place and forget. Lazy bastard was intended to be my reward, and I actually had already started a turtle save. After the success of the There is no Spoon Run I figured I'd start over, and just use the same blueprints but take my time, use bots and be a bit closer to my normal play style. This one was almost a boring run, used what I'd learned in the previous runs to get up and going a bit faster than I normally do. Hand-feeding and micromanaging assembly machines was a little tedious at the start but once you get some automation up, it rapidly turns into a standard run. Because I was playing 'casually' I took time out to research some things that are superfluous for a bare bones run (robot speed, toolbelt etc). I placed the rocket silo and went to dinner. Came back and launched at 7:56. Could've saved myself a whole run. Going back through my autosaves, it looks like the rocket was ready around 7:40, and possibly a littler earlier than that because that was the last autosave. But the end result is this, at long last. paste functionality within selection of multiple elements Posted: 17 Dec 2019 01:25 AM PST I am wondering if we can paste what we copied to a range of entities we can select on map at the same time. Example: I put ten assemblers next to each other like a line. I open first one and select recipe, "gear" lets say. now I copy it into clipboard. at this point I want to paste the assembler recipe (or anything we can copy) to multiple selection of assemblers instead of pasting them one by one. (I know I can run on a line but sometimes it is not helping) Another example: I realize I need to add another item to existing filter inserter (like it had iron plate only and now I want to make it iron plate plus copper plate). I change filter of one of the inserter. If I have one hundred filter inserters in my section of factory, I need to find them one by one and paste them. I want to do it like how upgrade planner does. is it possible? is there a mod doing this? [link] [comments]
Posted: 17 Dec 2019 04:59 AM PST So made a few all tree maps and never had a single biter problem. even on ones were i made the cloud so dense it would spill out many chunks of forest. thought it might have been just that. set expansions to frequent and it still didnt change. none ever showed up. do expansion troops get caught up just attacking the never dieing trees cause of pathfinding? Posted: 16 Dec 2019 05:57 PM PST Within like 5 minutes of playing, before I get even electricity, it seems like I get stomped by biters. I remember having quite a lot of time before? I've started a few games thinking maybe my start was just unlucky, but I keep getting creamed. [link] [comments]
Any improvements to combat/defense coming soon? Posted: 16 Dec 2019 06:41 PM PST I've played factorio for a while now and absolutely love it. It's easily one of my favorite games. However, the one area I've always felt doesn't get enough innovation and love is combat. I greatly appreciate the weekly updates from the devs on all the changes they make and the technical details on how new systems were built, but I rarely ever see any mention on expected improvements to combat. I enjoy the idea of pollution pissing off aliens and having to defend your base from them, but the current implementation is rather lackluster. I was curious if anyone had more information on plans to improve this system? I haven't found much discussion on it. [link] [comments] |
