Got run over by my first train, I'm a real player now. Posted: 23 Jul 2021 02:35 PM PDT At first I was like "what the hell just happened, did the game fail?", but nope; I did. Wish I had it captured. [link] [comments]
Colourblind fixes WITHOUT mods and without losing your achievements! Posted: 24 Jul 2021 03:13 AM PDT Thanks to the work of some previous people on this sub, I have compiled an update for Factorio that will fix the graphics for colourblind people without using a mod and without losing your achievements. You can also easily update the graphics yourself, if your particular colourblindness isn't helped. Download here, and you can find the Github repo here. Please let me know if you have any suggestions on other game items that should be updated. What's changed

Making your own changesIf, for example, you don't like the colours of the wires above, it is super easy to make your own unique colours:
CreditsCredit to Hornwitser for the science pack graphics from his cb-science mod. As per his licence, no derivative works have been made and his original content has been included verbatim. Credit to RedditNamesAreShort for showing that it was possible to change these graphics without using a mod. Credit to BadWolfHS for the logistic network overlay and for inspiring this collection. Love this game to the death, but can't enjoy it... Please help! Posted: 24 Jul 2021 12:32 AM PDT Hi! I love this game, but often it feels like the moment I finish any task, there's next thing to do and no time to sit back and enjoy my accoplishment. And knowing that every second pollution spreads and biters evolve forces to do everything in a hurry. Also I am trying to build everything on my own. I make my own blueprints in creative mode and then build them by hand in actual game. I played Factorio on and off almost for a year now, but still haven't got to drones even a single time... The furthest I got was completing basic oil processing. Every map ends up feeling like I am doing work just to unlock more work. Today I started another map (maybe 10th), this time without biters in hopes to get rid of some anxiety. Maybe there's something wrong in a way I approach Factorio or something? Please, help me fix my perspective :) Update: wow, so many answers in 6 hours! Thanks alot guys, this is a great community! Large game files making multiplayer difficult Posted: 24 Jul 2021 04:54 AM PDT I recently started a game of Space Exploration + Rampant with a friend of mine, and the save file is nearing 1gb and we just went into orbit over Nauvis as our first venture off-world. We've been scanning every planet we discover (and this seems to have been a mistake) But between downloading the map and rather long save times it's becoming more and more frustrating to play. How can we address the issue now, and since we're so early in the game, how can we keep file size down during the rest of the playthrough? [link] [comments]

Posted: 23 Jul 2021 02:16 PM PDT So I'm having a grand old time building a new iron ore outpost with spidertron, copy pasting a 10-10 lane balanced belt array from my other similarly sized coal outpost to feed the train. I setup 2 new trains, lay down the rails, add signals, assign the stops, then head back to base to figure out what to do next. Life is good. Then I see it…one of my iron ore trains has decided to go rogue and stop at my COAL unloading station…I see two entire wagons worth of iron ore dumped into the coal belts. I use the coal belts to feed my 100SPM main line, but also to fuel my ENTIRE smelting setup of 960 steel furnaces, and the trains themselves. Oh god how did I fuck this up, this is going to take forever to clean up. I'm going to have to shut down the whole thing and pick this all up by hand. If I don't move quickly my copper smelting is going to start smelting the iron ore off the coal line and feeding that into the main line...oh god. After some investigation I can see I accidentally assigned my 2 new iron ore trains from the outpost I just created to stop at coal instead of iron. I must have mistaken the black coal icon for the blue iron ore icon when assigning stops...crap... Good lord this game is amazing. What's the dumbest mistake you've made that caused LOADS of logistics damage to your setup? [link] [comments]

Posted: 23 Jul 2021 08:14 PM PDT I'm doing a playthrough of Nilaus' Base in a Book, and have got to the stage of starting my oil refinery. I can't find any crude oil anywhere so far. How can I progress without/until I find a patch? Map exchange string in the comments. [link] [comments]

Circuit Network: Detect when a chest is filling up Posted: 24 Jul 2021 02:20 AM PDT Recently I started playing Krastorio and it has been wild; And one of the processes creates two products and I need one of these products to bootstrap a process for the other product. However the belts are not the same length and as such the entire process is choked up... I tried fixing it with balancers, but no dice. Eventually I found a solution using loaders and containers. And this buffers enough to bootstrap the entire process! The process is: raw imersite -> sand + imersite powder -> imersite crystals; the sand is used in the electrolysis plant to create hydrogen, which is needed to create the imersite crystals. I have 18 purple belts of raw imersite as input (in sandbox for blueprint testing) :D So I was wondering if there is a way to detect if a chest is filling up or staying at a (semi) stable state? I know that it is possible with accumulators; because I have a power-indicator blueprint, that shows [link] [comments]
How do I embrace the spaghetti? Posted: 24 Jul 2021 02:18 AM PDT I have 385 hours in game and am only missing the 20 million green circuits achievement. I am looking for a new way to play the game after becoming overly dependent on the main bus style. I have always struggled to get into trains, mainly because of how long they take to plan out (especially pre-bots). I think learning the ways of spaghetti will help me get over this. Whenever I've tried intentionally to be consumed by the spaghetti, I always revert to a bus base when I get access to bots. How is it possible to not be steeped in technical debt from bad planning, without over-planning or becoming terribly bottlenecked? [link] [comments]

Posted: 23 Jul 2021 09:27 PM PDT Sooooo as the title says I'm starting a new modded factory. Going to be AAI B/A and Space X. Using 10x research. Biters are going to be on but set to no expansion maybe peaceful, gotta bump up my hypermodule somehow. I would like to get up to 100 then 300 and finally 1000spm (hopefully). Plan on running with the AAI haulers to start with then bump up to a big train setup later on. With aircraft coming in for distant ore patches. Couple questions Would base resource setting be useable or should I bump up? Part of me is thinking about running with infinite but only using standard size or a tad smaller. This way it would be consistant but when I needed more I couldn't just drop more miners I would need an expansion or to push productivity research. How well do the AAI vehicles for long distances or full routes? Work with complex paths? Used them a couple times for biter base pushing and running a coal/crushed stone around but nothing for large scale. Is their a way/mod to limit which bots do what? Ex less then 10 items use standard logi more then 100 use a crawler? And any general tips? [link] [comments] |
