Trains are scary, but I'm not afraid anymore Posted: 21 Jun 2021 12:56 AM PDT My life in Factorio changed today Had just got my modular armour with all the best goodies in it! A couple of nice mk2 shield and lasers, just a whole load of goodness! The 'your base is being attacked' sound plays, I instinctively open the map and love over to those glowing red marks, using radar to make sure my base isn't compromised while I'm away... Suddenly my shield and health are gone. I'm dead. Obliterated the the very train's track I had just finished repairing. My brand new armour and modules gone forever. I felt betrayed by my factory. Not a few minutes after I and finished my power armour research, and spent probably fifteen minutes running all over like a madman trying to be a busybody while new modules were slowly constructing, eventually filling every slot with modules I had come to respect. An hour passes. I've been carefully avoiding train tracks and looking at the map when I cross, life is good. I hear an attack noise, my base's power cuts out. In a panic I look at my map to see how this could've happened? A fuel shortage? But how? And as an attack happens? I get two seconds to think about what might have caused this when my shield are gone, and my health is but a few pixels. But I lived. I am a Golem now, fuck trains. [link] [comments]

Posted: 21 Jun 2021 07:47 AM PDT I don't even know whats going on anymore. Every few hours i be like ' yo dude i can be more space efficent at this part ' or ' should i redo this part ? ' then i get distracted by something else, then i see trains and try to figure them out for 3 hours straight, then a random blackout happens because i forgot to connect few steam engines, then i decide to kill some aliens because the pollution is about to hit them. At some point i realize i had something in my mind to do 5 hours ago, i just say screw it and get to building the next thing. Rinse and repeat. Coming from other management/colony sim/city builder games, just realized i've created my most beautiful ' mess ' ever in this 35 hours of Factorio. I fuckin love it. THE FACTORY MUST GROW, one way or another. [link] [comments]
Do I have enough braincells to get this game? Posted: 21 Jun 2021 01:39 AM PDT Sup, So I've been considering getting factorio since I've heard great things about it being fun, etc. I've seen the gameplay and builds n shit and it honestly looks way too fucking complex. I'm a dumbass in general and not very smart so would someone like me even have the brains to play this game? Like jesus, I look a the gameplay and I can't understand shit, everything is just a mess, my brain can barely comprehend what I'm seeing on the screen. And I get that you wouldn't be able to understand something you haven't even tried before, but this is just different man. Anyways yeah, can a braindamaged fuck like myself even play this game? Posted: 21 Jun 2021 04:14 AM PDT Hi all, Ive been wondering for a while, is there a way to have a web based map viewer? Ive been looking at some but all seem out dated :/ [link] [comments]
Am I the only one who does not like Megabases? Posted: 20 Jun 2021 01:37 PM PDT I was wondering if I am the only one who does not like Megabases? The last 3 weeks I was watching some YouTubers. Most of them build Megabases but I noticed that all of them lack identity/creativity to their base. They place their bluprints from the map (sometimes 20 Minutes long), they dont even know how the environment looks there. Building Megabases looks to me like copy and paste just to make it big. There is no funny trial and error fiddling anymore. Just highly optimized blueprints (sometimes not even by them) which needs to be placed somewhere. Even the train/railway parts come from blueprints... But then I watched a streamer who has around 20 Labs and tries to make them work constantly. Everything is hand crafted, little bit spaghetti but very entertaining to watch how he managed to get it working. I think this base has his footprint, it's not perfect but very creative/funny solutions which work quite well. I would watch that instead of building a Megabase in a book which has no room for own solutions because there is only one best placement/arrangement for everything. [link] [comments]

Posted: 21 Jun 2021 01:38 AM PDT My entire energy setup is being ran by solid fuel wich comes from cracking oil from petroleum. But there is a moment that my oil tanks fill and everything stops producing because there is "over output" is there a way to automate the flushing of the liquid systems? (I can't crack the overflowing liquid because I ran out of space in my spaghetti base) [link] [comments]

Quickly deploy a Factorio server to Azure Posted: 20 Jun 2021 12:06 PM PDT Hey Guys, I've written a small script with Terraform and Ansible, which allows you to easily deploy a Factorio server. If you know how to handle those tools. ;) The wiki is still easy to go through, but it takes to much time to deploy the server, configure it etc. https://github.com/MarcBuch/quick-factorio-server Admins if this doesn't align with community policies, please notify me and I will take it down. How do I make snaping to grid work with train blueprints Posted: 21 Jun 2021 07:05 AM PDT I am designing a blueprint book for my mega base which I am working on. I have some issues making blueprints snap to the absolute grid. It works perfectly as long as I dont rotate the blueprint, If I rotate it it becomes one tile off no matter what I do. The issue seems to be that I can not use uneven numbers when snapping to the grid. Is it possible to solve this issue. I am using 2-8-2 trains and the minimum distance between signals for this type of trains seems to be 41 tiles. Do I have to use an even number of rail tiles for this to work? if I dont use snaping it works perfectly well to allign the blueprint regardless of orientation. [link] [comments]
Request Items; Extensive train systems in 1.1 - Possibilities without LUA combinators Posted: 21 Jun 2021 06:20 AM PDT So about two years ago I played factorio with a friend. We downloaded the LUA-combinator mod and he wrote a small script which allowed us to put a signal to a train stop and then all items that are requested by signal get called to the train stop. So for example if I request copper ore, iron and iron gears three different trains from a rest point got a signal, drove to a station to get the items and proceeded to deliver them to the station with the sign. (We only had 1-1 trains in the system). I would love to get that to work in newer versions of factorio but the mod has not been updated. Can you think of a way to do it? What I wanna achieve:
Thank you so much for your help! Edit: Format; Clarification [link] [comments] |
