    Hours ago i posted about my rail deadlock nightmare, looked for some tutorials and only just took me 5 hours to fix that mess and understand some mechanics. Thanks for your comments (and laughs). I'm feeling proud today :). 40 hours in total and more to come!!! (help me)

    As promised here is X1KV3 Sit-rep Week 10

    In Short, I am not finished because I need more Iron ore belts! For a more detailed explanation please read on.

    So, in case anyone missed it, I started a new map with science set to be 1,000 times more expensive than normal. I gave myself a large starting area and increased the yield of my resource patches. Biters, Evolution, Expansion and Pollution are all switched on, I cheesed cliffs to make them shorter and smaller and I cheesed biters Making fewer but larger bases. I have failed this challenge twice and this is my 3rd attempt.

    Greetings fellow factorions.

    I have a list of full red belts I need and on that list is 125 belts of Iron ore, 80 belts of copper ore, 25 stone ore and 25 coal ore belts. I decided to get the largest one done first. Obviously I will need the smelters to smelt them also so I need 255 smelter stacks and also I want it to look neat and tidy so I have had to landfill large area to accommodate the smelters. I built 125 iron ore smelters and put 90 full belts of iron ore into them but i need another 35 belts of iron ore. I can take the iron ore from the old base but I am still not ready to tear down the old base yet because of reasons.

    I was hoping I would not have to go and fight the biters again but after some thought i reloaded my exploration player save and explored the land a lot and I found that I can secure all the res I need with one more push the the west clearing a peninsular. So, now I have 4 choke points, N/S/E/W and only East is finished 100% with the new type of slim line train fed auto repair type walls. The others are still using my original gun turret, Flamers setup and I didn't change them yet because I thought i may need more land. Now once I have finished clearing out the new area to the west of bitters I can then secure N/S/W once and for all and I am certainly looking forwards to ticking that of the list and never having to go to the walls again.

    I have yet to build the smelters for copper and stone bricks but getting the 125 iron ones out the way means that at least my tasks are getting easier now the largest is done. Now just need to get ore into them

    I decided that I am going to move ALL my ores and plates using red underground belts. I'm using undergrounds to help me with UPS and im using belts because the through put is very good with belts and I would bottle neck my rail network trying to move those huge amounts of basic resources. I am however planning to use lots and lots of trains to move resources from one place to another but i want to move advanced items or finished products like circuits and engines ect. I know I need 30 red belts of green circuits and that is already a lot to put on a train network. I will see how it goes and perhaps I will move circuits by belts as well. I wanna see what 30 belts of green chips looks like flowing past me though or the trains so either way its going to be epic.

    I have been making lots and lots of red belts then to move these materials and also preparing things for the future. In my old base I have a steam power plant that is 2.4GW of power and it is right in the middle of old base. My second largest task was to move that Power plant from old base to new base, which i did using trains and construction bots and I can safely say that power is 100% finished and I have 3.4GW of power with my finished factory expected to use 3.1GW. All the boilers are fed with red belts of coal and they are fed enough to run at 100% so I wont have power spiral of death.

    I made another landfill array making a total of 3 now and I am using it all up. I have a 2-4-2 train that I am constantly calling to help me landfill as well as a 2-2. I have thought about making a large single array for landfill but actually I will finish my landfill soon and that factory will be useless so I am just gonna use these 3 and in the end I wont have any landfill factory.

    3rd on the list is my Oil refinery set up. I have decided to bring in all my crude oil using 2-4-2 trains and I have 8 trains feeding 360 refineries. Everything related to refinery products is being made at the Refinery so I dont have to move liquids about or put liquids on a bus. I will just move the finished products by train from the refinery to the destination. I have built the setup but not switched it on yet. All the pipes are shiny and clean and not a drop of crude oil has every flowed in a pipe to that refinery. I am looking forwards to switching it on and a little logic circuits to keep it going and I will love seeing this thing process the oil.

    A word about bot abuse. I abuse bots. Its not against the law and I only abuse them for base building and not for logistics but I am happy to send a bot on a slow hover from one end of the base to the other to deliver a light that I probably wont ever use. I am also happy to send hundreds if not thousands of bots to their deaths during the turrets creep wars. For me it is personal as Bots killed my family in the future by traveling backwards in time. This for me is revenge. It hasn't happened yet but when it does I will make sure it doesn't and in the meantime I make sure the bots know who the real boss is!

    Test have been continuing with Unit-X to try to uncover more bitter secrets but nothing could have prepared me for the strange twist of events that happened on one of my days playing.

    I was crossing a rail track and one of my own trains ran me over! I did not know what to do as it has never happened to me before. I did not know if the game would just end or if I would be able to continue. I wasn't sure how it would effect my real life or how to continue with life from now on. I decided to try at least and I pressed the continue button instead of the reload button and miraculously I just reappeared at old base but with a pistol! I had got rid of my starter pistol and now I had a brand new pistol just like my first one and some yellow ammo but I had also died. This world is getting stranger and I dont know if its all related but i feel the pistol has something to do with the 1,000 times more expensive planet, but also the crash site when I crashed here. I have decided to make the crash site wreckage into a security temple thing to both worship the pistols and keep the pistols safe. So far I have 2 and I will work out this mystery. I will keep you informed if i find any secrets regarding the pistol.

    Science is completely stopped and wont be going again until the new sciences are built and everything to new spec. Probably a month or so but who knows. I have lots to do and I will just work though it and one day I might get of this doomed planet. Everything is researched up until purple science.

    I think that about covers it for this week. Looking ahead I will be finishing of the iron ore smelters as soon as I have secured this new land mass to the west. Then I will finish walls. Then copper mines and smelters...and so on, all the while trying to recycle old base into new base.

    I feel it is just a matter of time now and I am enjoying remaking everything to a nice new, neat standard but also I really want to see this base produce 2k science per minute just to make this all more worthwhile.

    I am streaming this attempt whenever I am playing it.     I made a balanced 'smart' pickup station. It determines how many trains it can load and set the station train limit to that number (in this example max of 4). It also show that number on a small display next to the station.

    It counts per wagon. So if the first wagon's chests are full to the brim, but the second wagon's chest would be empty. The train limit is still zero since it can't fill the second wagon.

    This was made for 2-8-2 trains.

    It has 8 or 16 inputs.

    You should insert the stack size (S) on the most top right constant combinator so the station will know how many full trains he can do.

    I'll start working on my first megabase(1K spm) with 30+ trains build but am kind of new to signalling stuff. I know the basics though but I'm scared to do a mistake and screw everything up. The retarded question is, does over-signaling rails espacially on intersections cause any problems in any way? If I'm not sure what the hell is happening, if I don't know why my signals are beeping with 3 colours, can I just put some extra signals/chain signals around until everything is coloured as they should be?

    Edit: I swear this sub is as good as the game. Thanks for all the answers.

    Mall with Renai transport, transport drones, merge chests in AB = life made easier in my second AB run. First one took 130 hrs to get to launch. Now I can dare to try Py. Any other tricks and suggestions?

    A huge spire like catapult creature, that spews "artillery" like sludge, that disables it's target, but does minor damage.

    You'll need to build shields to defend against it. Gives defenders another thing to counter.

    The idea came to me after playing online where I get someone to defend while I build the base. And I thought it might be a fun thing to try and defend against.

    Or if shields become too visually hectic. Maybe some sort of Earth shaking direction wave, such that the catapult can't settle/fester into the ground: Needed to be able to shot. Or it can fester, but can't shoot while being settled in the direction of the shaker beams.

    It means you'll have to build and actively choose direction of the shaker beam, which is a slight twist on automation. And you might need to build a few to cover all angles or manage beams to cover multiple walkers as they try to fester. And will force you out of your "bunker".

    I'm having a problem where I want 2 trains to deposit the iron ore but the train is not waiting on the path I want it to. It's staying on the red path which is bocking other trains where I want it to wait on the green, how do I fix this?
