Solo 1000x Research Cost Rocket Launch Posted: 22 Nov 2020 04:20 AM PST Hey everyone. I've been wanting to attempt a 1000x research cost game for a while now and finally had the time to give it a try. I began this project back in August, and, after nearly 300 hours, managed to launch my first rocket. The initial plan was just to build a 1k spm setup for each science pack and research only the techs necessary for a launch. However, it turns out building a 1k spm base without mining productivity, modules, or beacons is a bit more complicated than I expected. This approach would've required more than 100 saturated red belts of iron and copper combined, and probably would have melted my computer in the process. I eventually decided to split the science production into three tiers: 1000 spm for red and green, 500 spm for blue, and 250 spm for purple/yellow. This way, I could keep the factory running at 60 ups as well as redirect the excess resources from the earlier builds into the later science packs. One of several smelting setups Fun Facts: Yes, I handcrafted red science for 17 hours to research Automation. I figured if I was going to do something this stupid, I might as well go full stupid. Mods: Infinite Resources, Early Construction, Even Distribution, Far Reach, Squeak Through No console commands or map editor No biters 2.5k Mining Drills, 2k Steel Furnaces, 2k Assembling Machines, 640 Steam Engines, 185 Pumpjacks The Rocket Silo alone costs 1 million red/green/blue/purple/yellow packs. At 250 spm, this took around 60 hours to complete My mouse is broken, so the factory was built with an xbox controller 1000x is currently the maximum research multiplier the game allows [link] [comments]

Posted: 22 Nov 2020 07:36 AM PST I'm a new player and I recently discovered all of these weird things about the game when I tried to work with oil. I try to look up youtube tutorials for any tips if I can change my base a bit to make it better but there is so much in the game that I honestly don't think I can accomplish. I've seen other people's bases and when I hear them explain their base I just can't seem to follow up because it's just so much. I really love factorio because it's complicated, there so much content, and I've never played a game like this but I don't think I can play it anymore. Basically, what I'm asking is, should I quit, and am I dumb, or is factorio hard? [link] [comments]

At green science. How much do I spread out on the map? Posted: 22 Nov 2020 08:00 AM PST I just cleared out the biters around my cloud and built train tracks to the nearest oil and another iron patch. It seems like I will have to go very far to find more resources. The new iron patch isn't that big, and some of my mining drills are already mined out. So, is the car essential here, or what? How many outposts are typical? What's the best way to find more resources? [link] [comments]
Posted: 22 Nov 2020 07:11 AM PST Hello Engineers, I've recently been introduced to the Factorio Calculator and was confused at the beacon & module settings it asked for. I'm trying to reduce the number of assemblers needed for my roboport and bot production line to get the output up, but couldn't figure out how to set beacon numbers and beacon module settings correct. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, [link] [comments]

Posted: 22 Nov 2020 06:38 AM PST I have always wanted to try out Factorio, but the price tag made me hesitant to buy it, among other things. Recently, I found a (somewhat) similar free game on itch.io "Mindustry" with a similar Factorio vibe, and I played it for around 5 hours, but I disliked the fact that each stage was essentially a repeat of the same thing: build miners, build a small factory, feed mats into towers and your base. The first time it was fun and exciting, but by the time I got to the third level, it was getting old fast. The enemies constantly destroying my factories was also very annoying, and the progression was soooo slow. Much of the time is just waiting for resources to fill my base. Does Factorio have as much down time, or is it constant factory building/optimizations? Another thing that I disliked about Mindustry was the fact that the research tree was plain and simple, and the towers had little depth in them. Compared to a tower defense like Infinitode or BTD5, it was pretty lame IMO. I have heard that Factorio has much more depth as a game, and that Factorio has some enemy raid aspects, but that they are not that important to the overall game. Is Factorio really that different to Mindustry? I love the idea about building factories and optimizations, but the aspects (mainly the slow pace) of Mindustry made me unsure once again. I do not want to buy a $30 game when I am this unsure about it. I have not tried the demo, and I will ASAP. Can you guys give me your thoughts? [link] [comments] |
