    You may recall some days back when I posted about my Space Exploration map with Rampant. I did wind up scrapping that run due to the inevitable crash I'm told will happen. When rethinking my mods for attempt 2, I seriously considered removing Rampant entirely for an easier run. Ultimately, I decided to keep the AI, and add Armored Biters. A challenge, but not a masochistic one.

    This was a mistake.

    I just researched the satellite rocket, and would like to build it. I can't, though. I'm too busy fighting off the hordes. I'm losing ground, slowly but surely. If I could just upgrade my ammo production, since it's currently barely limping along, then I might be able to hold ground long enough to establish a laser presence at the perimeter. I can't leave the front lines long enough to do this, though. Poison capsules are a precious commodity, as I use them to hold a wall while running somewhere else to stop a breakthrough. Jetpack is a finely honed skill at this point, as I have remapped the launch key to one of my mouse buttons for better combat use. Every so often I snipe a nest, but it's an exercise in futility.

    I'm holding out hope though. Tomorrow, some of my friends will be on. Perhaps I can gather reinforcements and rally the defenses long enough to get the ammo production fixed and start the required upgrades to the perimeter.

    Sound issues on Linux (Ubuntu 20.04)

    Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but i thought i give it a shot.

    What i want: Play factorio, listen to some music through an external program.

    What happens:
    If i already have music playing when i start factorio (standalone version), factorio will only start in an "audio disabled"-mode. The output in the terminal reads as follows:

    ALSA lib pcm_dmix.c:1089:(snd_pcm_dmix_open) unable to open slave 2.330 No '/dev/dsp' device available in your system. 2.330 Perhaps Open Sound System is not installed or running. 2.330 Failed to init OSS. 2.330 No audio driver can be used. (error code: 1) 

    The often suggested fix, using the padsp wrapper (padsp ./factorio) doesnt't work, it just changes my error:

    ALSA lib pcm_dmix.c:1089:(snd_pcm_dmix_open) unable to open slave 1.427 errno: 111 -- Connection refused 1.427 Failed to init OSS. 1.427 No audio driver can be used. (error code: 1) 

    If I start factorio while i have no other sound-outputting program running, factorio starts with audio. However i can't play sound from any other program than. VLC just plays silence, youtube videos won't even play at all (firefox).

    As a last note, i'm able to have sound outputs from firefox and vlc at the same time, meaning it's not a system limitation, but some problem with factorio.

    Any pointers/ solutions would be appreciated.

    i assume this one will be a pretty long project so i was looking at all the mods and there are quite a bit.

    besides EVERYTHING from bobs and angels plus warehouses, what do you recommend? does that space exploration one work with bobs?

    Hi Train Masters

    I have this issue on this intersection where my train aren't going through it...

    they can run for quite a long time and then just with bad timing they all stall here... trains can run around this science factory but most use this corner to turn around, does any have a blueprint to expand this intersection to the left so i can queue all the trains that want to turn around, my buddy that manages my trains is out of town so now i cant leave my base idling :(

    I know that PeteTheLich has been selling spidertron models in his etsy website, and there were a number of people who bought unpainted versions to paint it themselves. As a person that likes figurines, I've always wanted to see your paint jobs. Thanks in advance when you do.

    Accumulators not charging fast enough

    Hi,

    I have an issue where accumulators don't seem to be charging fast enough.
    I have a full solar panel energy production. My production is currently at 30 MW / 242 MW.
    Meaning I have ample reserves of power production.
    According to the wiki, 5MJ of stored energy takes approximately 17s to fully charge/discharge at the maximum rate of 300kW ( https://wiki.factorio.com/Accumulator )

    So my accumulators should be charging up really fast.
    Instead, I seem to be at a rate of 2 kJ/s

    Why is it so slow ?
