What fields of knowledge help with this game? Posted: 01 Nov 2020 01:59 AM PST I notice that there's some players that seem to get a really good grasp of not only Factorio, but games of this nature in general. While I'm willing to believe some people are just wired toward intuitively getting this stuff, are there any fields whose principles apply particularly well to these sorts of games? I've heard programming before but as I don't know the first thing about that I'm not sure. The sense I get is that these players know the things they need to build the things they want as well as the methods to do them, and when they stick their toes into games like Factorio, or Minecraft all they're doing is looking at the avenues the game provides to carry out those goals i.e this redstone comparator will serve as X to allow this circuit to function. It's not easy for me to articulate this as I'm very new and certainly NOT the typical type of player to approach these sorts of games, but I'm doing my best. [link] [comments]

My 3k spm 1.0 Vanilla Megabase Posted: 31 Oct 2020 10:22 AM PDT I started plans for this megabase a little before 1.0 came out and since 1.0 has been released it has been the only save I've played. With all the goodies coming in 1.1, specifically the train changes, I think I will start a new megabase so I've decided to share this one with Reddit as I guess I am calling this one 'complete'. Here is an Imgur post with pics of the base at 259 hours in. I am now over 750 hours into the save and I'm sure a few things have changed in the past 500 hours so I will provide my most recent savefile. It's the biggest base I've built yet, I usually stick to 1k spm bases because I don't UPS optimize most things but I enjoy 60 UPS. However, for my first 1.0 I decided to just push my limits. I really enjoyed making a dedicated smelting factory and using a lot of circuit network magic to make the base work. A big shoutout to rain9441, I took a lot of inspiration from his vanilla 5k spm base, and even customized his TLS system for my needs which makes building new outposts extremely easy. I hope you guys enjoy. [link] [comments]
Posted: 01 Nov 2020 03:17 AM PST I host a multiplayer server via the game and my friends join me via steam. When large groups of enemies are attacking, my friends have lag spickes that drops down to just 5 to 10 fps. Meanwhile my game only lags to ~50 fps when large enemie groups attacks. Is this normal that the game of the one hosting the game lags way less? My Cpu: i7-8770k Friend 1 Cpu: ryzen 5 3600 Friend 2 Cpu: ryzen 7 1700 [link] [comments]
Posted: 01 Nov 2020 06:57 AM PST I'm trying to make a train track for my base, but don't really know how to use the rail chain signal's and rail signal properly, I have some basic BP's for laying the track out, but I have no clue how to make the corners work properly and need help, anything is helpful. Also my Track is 2 lanes with Right side drive. [link] [comments]

Posted: 01 Nov 2020 03:37 AM PST Hello, I am trying to transition to a mega base which i have never built before - i have got to the stage where i have launched a few rockets, and want to turn my factory into a city block style base with trains, however my issue is i have a shit ton of water and cliffs everywhere, so i want to be able to destroy or fill in these areas and then have my bots automatically place the blueprint item for a city block component, say a roboport, after the cliff has been destroyed, without having to go back and replace the blueprint? is it possible to queue commands somehow? thanks [link] [comments]
my base isn't receiving power. Posted: 01 Nov 2020 02:55 AM PST help. everything has a flashing red sign on it. i thought I didn't have enough power from the steam engines but even if I add more, they don't turn on and the engines wont run [link] [comments]

Help pls. Electricity problem might kill my 70+Hours base. Posted: 31 Oct 2020 06:26 PM PDT So I am 70+Hours in this save, I researched almost everything. Still didn't touch anything about nuclear power. I just started making robots and have 1.7K robot in total but still didn't expand the roboports. I prepared to launch rocket and launched it with a satellite a little while ago. Then suddenly all my base was shutting off. And no way to effectively start it over. I spent the last 20+ hours clearing a huge territory and building walls around the wall place with full turrets(guns, lasers and flamethrowers) 3K in total almost. And after I finished all that and killed some random bugs appearing in the inside of my territory after clearing it (btw why does new biters appear inside even if I cleared everything?). I totally forgot that the two coal veins that was supplying my 80 boilers (every single source of electricity I had) were running 24/7 are getting very low, and they weren't making enough coal to support the boilers. So I tried to chop trees and do everything to get them started but I failed. I have no idea how to solve this electricity problem. I can't make the reactors cuz I still didn't start mining uranium yet and I have less than 200 solar panels. Any ideas how to fix this? [link] [comments] |
