For those of you getting bored by the SPM challenge, this is how you learn to Factorio. SPM is nice, and SPM is good, but if you want to really get into the fine tuned optimization, you need to forget about SPM counts and try to get as much production per area as you can.

This is how you learn the belt tricks. This is how you pull some crazy shit with inserters.

This is how you fit a full uncloggable kovarex cycle in a 6x7 blueprint.

The game offered me a heart cliff, so I kept it in the middle of my base.

    Posted: 27 Jul 2020 08:23 PM PDT

with the release date approaching, I was wondering what the post-launch plans were and if they planned to add any new content post-launch?

    Automating Factorio

    Posted: 28 Jul 2020 08:28 AM PDT

I have always enjoyed playing Factorio, but it takes up too much of my time. So, fear not, I have wasted even more of my time programming a mod to play Factorio for me.

I'm even lazier with designs, so this is the start of Nefrum's sub 2 hour speedrun. I hope to finish the whole run, but the first 2 mins has taken me about an hour to write.

    Elegant sushi belt design

    Posted: 28 Jul 2020 08:17 AM PDT

    https://reddit.com/link/hzghja/video/n3em0aqz5md51/player

This method works by inserting on yellow belt (15 items/second). And merging it on a blue belt (45 items/second). The input from the sushi belt has priority so it won't clog.

With this method you can put up to 3 items on each side. Getting more different items gets complicated. Side loading (as done in the right loop) can causes clogging with 3 items on each side.

NB this is a Krastorio 2 game, so the military science recipe differs slightly from vanilla. Huge thumbs up for the creators of the Krastorio mod.

    Things new players say.

    Posted: 28 Jul 2020 12:46 AM PDT

I just started a new playthrough with a friend who's never played before. He said, "It's amazing to me that someone designed a game so complex that I can't figure out how to play it."

I imagine others have great quotes from new players as well. I'd love to read them.

Will the price of the game change with 1.0?

    Posted: 28 Jul 2020 02:47 AM PDT

I am thinking of ruining my friend's sleep schedule by buing him factorio, so i am wondering if when 1.0 releases the price of the game will increase. Is it so, or are there no changes planned?

    Count belt output/second?

    Posted: 28 Jul 2020 09:19 AM PDT

Is there a way to use the circuit network to count the belt output/second? Could you set the content read to pulse and use an arithmetic combinator to count the pulses over a set amount of time? or is that over-thinking it?

    Multi-stop Ore loading question

    Posted: 28 Jul 2020 08:25 AM PDT

    Multi-stop Ore loading question

I'm trying to run 3-12-3-12 trains for my ore trains and I want to load them 12 cars at a time. The first station lines up with the loaders but when I send the train to the second station it goes one tile too far. If I move the second station back one spot it pushes the train back two tiles and the inverse issue happens. Am I doing something wrong? Is there a way to get my train to line up correctly? Maybe a circuit network condition on a signal instead of a train station? but what outputs would I need to the circuit network to read that correctly?

    Do people watch factorio streams

    Posted: 27 Jul 2020 07:33 PM PDT

I kinda wanna stream making my angels and bobs megabase and was curious if people would care. It's not like I'm a god gamer or anything. I don't wanna make this an advert so I won't link it unless I get enough people asking. I'm not sure how much I'll be able to do it's been a run I've worked on for 200 hours but I'm pretty much having to redo most of it due to major mistakes / pure spaghetti in the beginning

Can we still not create blueprints with landfill and buildings?

    Posted: 28 Jul 2020 12:38 AM PDT

I'm on 0.18.x and maybe I'm missing something here but if I try to create a blueprint creating, for example, a bunch of landfill with rails, big electric poles, radars and roboports on it (to build rail over large stretches of ocean) I just get "Cannot build on Water".

Or phrasing the question in the title a little differently: Is there a mod out there that allows me to queue the building of buildings on top of landfill ghost tiles so that I can just slap down a long line of rail-on-landfill and let my construction bots deal with it instead of having to babysit the process?

Is there a way to make construction bots repair nearest building ?

    Posted: 27 Jul 2020 11:54 PM PDT

At the moment, they fly over, fix a slightly broken wall, and then fly over to the other side of my base and do the same thing. Is there a way for me to make them repair the closest building?

    Alien Targeting

    Posted: 28 Jul 2020 01:59 AM PDT

So I'm quite new to the game and I'm currently building a base and training in resources. Will biters naturally target inserters, chests and transport belts. I'm just trying to figure out if i need to expand my outer walls to defend the unload station.

    Biter and spitter priority tiers

    Posted: 27 Jul 2020 10:13 PM PDT

I've gotten to the point where I'm at mid to late game working on automating purple and yellow science. My question is once I get artillery up and sustained will the biters and spitters from the surrounding area only focus the artillery and try to attack it like most other military stuff or if they break through will they go after my factory too?
