Actual maximum theoretical landfill per minute from one assembler

Blueprint: https://pastebin.com/raw/Sx3bFGvg (tip: place cars before placing beacons)

    Production graph: https://puu.sh/FU0Gz/db9fabdb75.png

This setup achieves theoretical maximum 1080 items/m from one assembler for landfill. I don't think it's possible to make it faster without mods.

The problem with landfill is how much stone it needs, so the bottleneck is always in the inserters.

Maximum possible number of inserters for one assembler is 12 stack inserters paired with 12 long inserters, using tricks with cars/tanks. Correctly allocating these inserters between input and output is required to reach maximum possible throughput.

In my setup I'm using 12 stack + 7 long for input, 5 long for output.

If you use 6 long for input and 6 long for output, you can't input enough items and you get slower throughput than 7/5.

If you use 8 long for input and 4 long for output, you can't output enough landfill and get slower throughput than 7/5.

Using 1 stack inserter for output is also slower.

You don't even need more beacons than I used in my blueprint, because assembler is already faster than maximum possible input+output.

How do I calculate ratios for stuff that are not being constantly used.

    Posted: 08 Jun 2020 03:44 AM PDT

Hello Reddit, I played the game a few time. I discover blue science, gets sad looking to my base, start a new save, repeat. Now I decided to plain my base ahead and do the calculations.

To calculate science it's simple, you put a target and it's done, but how do I calculate for belts or rails, for example. How do I know how many items per second will be needed.

Factorio themed (Lego) Great ball contraption ?

    Posted: 08 Jun 2020 01:59 AM PDT

I am really obsessing with [Great Ball Contraptions](https://www.greatballcontraption.com/ ) made in Lego the last couple of weeks.

[After seeing a piece about a railcart thas had conditional (un) loading docks. (very rudimentary)](https://youtu.be/jxMMtIxDrGk?t=835)

I was thinking about splitting up these pads and merging and then i tought about factorio.

what gives me the same good feeling seeing all that stuff just moving along different paths and then it got me thinking how cool (and a insta buy) it was to have factorio themed lego modules/sets.

So we can finally have real life belts to watch ! :)

Help Update Factorio Cheat Sheet Balancer Blueprints

Help Update Factorio Cheat Sheet Balancer Blueprints

Hey all, hope everyone is doing well!I wanted to reach out to the wonderful Factorio community to address this ticket that came about recently: https://github.com/deniszholob/factorio-cheat-sheet/issues/232 for the factoriocheatsheet.com website.

I wanted to get feedback from the community on how you guys would like to proceed.

So the problem is that I was linking and grabbing blueprints from u/Bilka's gists but he was saying he didnt credit the authors fully and decided to remove those gists (https://gist.github.com/Bilka2/aeec4ff7123ff5544cb9a80cf1046a06), which in turn made the link on the cheat sheet broken. I in turn decided to re-host the data unaware of the original issue of credits thinking the blueprints where his.

I want to give proper credit which seems to be u/raynquist with his book here: https://pastebin.com/igs2CvVd however it is not structured the same way, as the cheat sheet.

So what would you the community, and the users of this would like to see on that balancer section (https://factoriocheatsheet.com/#balancers)?

    • Links to u/raynquist's blueprint book, and some more links to imgr, etc?
    • u/tzwaan is making a website for balancers, which may then eliminate the need for this section entirely? https://github.com/tzwaan/factorio_balancers (Website is not up yet, but he plans to make it available for 1.0 What do we do in the mean time?)
    • Does the current format of the balancer links liked by all? Maybe we can change it up somehow? If not, there is still the issue of proper credit, what can we do?
    • Something else? Feel free to post your ideas, and start a discussion!

I think my default action will be removing the blueprint table and replacing that with u/raynquist's blueprint book link to pastebin, but lets see what the community thinks!

Here is a screenshot of the current design for reference

Progressing to Mega Base but need advice

I have launched a few rockets now, and cleared a sizable area of biters. I'm not producing t3 modules yet due to being bottled necked on red circuit production.

I'm planning to expand the train network to take the copper and iron patches to the West, and then put decentralized green, circuit production going, and red if I can get another oil path pumping out plastic. I know I'm going to need to upgrade the rail network to a 4 lane system as well in the near future.

I have had a look around factorio prints and can't find suitable blueprints (more likely I don't know what is suitable for mega base decentralization). Any advice/high production blueprints would be appreciated.

First time making trains, I have some questions (in comments)

    Posted: 08 Jun 2020 07:16 AM PDT

Is there a way to get a "coastline" map?

    Posted: 08 Jun 2020 07:08 AM PDT

I'd like a map where you start next to a very very large lake, but I don't see any setting for that and I haven't seen any mods for it. I'd like it to be basically a normally spawning lake that is just really really big, so you can eventually go around it or landfill over it if you want, not an endless expanse of water. If anyone has a way to get this I'd appreciate it.
