    Quarantine giveaway

    Posted: 27 Mar 2020 08:25 AM PDT

Edit: I just read that you must have a Steam account to receive a Steam key. So, please only respond if you have a Steam account for me to send the key to ;)

Hi everyone. Many of us are stuck at home, with school or work shut down to help keep everyone safer from COVID-19 spread. This strikes me as an excellent time to help someone join us in the Factorio Fan Club and make those hours of social distancing fly by.

Therefore, I will donate one Factorio Steam key to the first person to reply to this post asking for a key. Please be someone who DOESN'T already own the game, or looking to resell, or anything like that. I'm trying to be helpful in a stressful time :)

    You guys are crazy

    Posted: 26 Mar 2020 02:17 PM PDT

I started maybe a month-ish ago, right? My best best BEST base so far uses train automation and has this big two-laned looping track around the inside exterior of my base using circuit stuff I barely understand. And that was accomplished with 6 day's worth of time. Not over the course of 6 days, but 6 days of hours - 144 hours to get to this point. And heck, I see you guys doing these enormous crazy bases ten times the size of mine and with ten time as complex circuit stuff, and I can't help but boggle at it. You guys are crazy, and I can't wait until I'm just as crazy as you are.

    Computer

    Posted: 26 Mar 2020 08:14 PM PDT

    Computer

I've just finished the first version of my turing complete computer. I've made the same exact computer in minecraft, and many more computers before this, but this is my first turing complete computer in factorio. Amazingly, it took me just under 4 hours to make. It probably still has some bugs, but I've run a few test programs on it and I got it to work on those.

This computer runs a very simple assembly language that I made. The program is stored in memory, which means you can make code that modifies itself. Here is some info about the assembly language: https://pastebin.com/ekmkWF01

The only mods I used to make this are Creative Mod and Attack Notes.

    Entire computer

    Control circuitry

    1: User controls

2: Clock (the left three determine the speed, the middle four limit the output of that clock to two update cycles, and the right three keep track of fetching and processing instructions)

    3: Fetching & Processing decoder

4: Relaying reset command to not cross contaminate wires

    Registers and ALU

1: Instruction registers (the left register holds the actual instruction, the middle register holds the data for that instruction, and the right register holds the position in RAM)

2: ALU registers (the top two are the inputs and the bottom one is the output)

3: ALU (arithmetic and logic unit)

    RAM and IO

    1: Controls for programming

2: RAM (this can be easily expanded by simply copying and pasting, as long as the paste overlaps existing RAM cells)

    3: IO register

    Instruction decoder

1: Determines instruction and gives commands

2: Relays commands to different parts of the computer

My first mod ever, credo’s time lapse mod, was a lot of fun to use and see the end product. I like how it turned out. Mod suggestions for the future would be much appreciated!

    UI Scale Settings

    Posted: 27 Mar 2020 08:20 AM PDT

Is there a way to set the UI scale to a specific value rather than the fixed ones? For example 85% instead of the fixed values 75% or 100%.

I tried editing the value in the settings file without success (steam version).
