1500+ hours into factorio and I JUST discovered you can shift copy a recipe from a machine to a requester chest.

If I knew this from the start it would of saved a lot of time, especially on my bob+angels factories.

When I first started this base I was aiming for 1k SPM. I later kludged it up to 2.5 SPM. Today, it launched its 100,000th satellite!

Just got back on Factorio after about a year off. 3 hours in and just realised I should be cooking dinner right now. Some things never change.

Launched my first rocket. Thought it would give me a reason to stop thinking about the game. Boy was I wrong.

    Posted: 16 Jan 2020 06:14 AM PST

I feel like I've just started! I wanna do so many different things but I really shouldn't keep using all of my spare time on this game, no matter how much I really want to. Do I megabase? Or build a giant nuclear reactor? What did you guys do after your first rocket launch?

    Trains vs Belts comparison

    Posted: 16 Jan 2020 03:21 AM PST

Ive been doing alot of stalking on other Reddit posts and forums on where the breaking point is for cost effectiveness of trains verse belts. (Short distances belts win long distances trains win)
Belts are easy items per sec per belt * number of belts / raw items for initial construction.
The more i look into trains the more i find there are more variables that i didn't initially consider.
Trains....... well. the list of variables i have thought of so far are.
Size/configuration of train, fuel type, stations cost, loading/unloading time, travel time (acceleration&top speed&breaking) , item stack size.

So my questions for all those with an appetite for math.

Are there any variables i have missed?
Is there a formula for throughput of trains that considers the above variables?
Has someone already made this comparison in turn making me a useless stalker?

Factorio Modding Series: 01 - Basic Mod Structure

    Posted: 16 Jan 2020 09:03 AM PST

    Hello Factorio Community!

This is just a quick update post about my Factorio Modding Series. I have just released the first real episode where I talk about creating mods and Factorio's Modding API mod structure. If you've ever been interested in creating a mod for Factorio this is a great start! All experience levels are welcome!

I hope to see you there :D

P.S. You can also follow my twitter for updates on video releases as well as asking questions!

is there a war mod of some sort?

    Posted: 16 Jan 2020 06:06 AM PST

doesnt need to be complicated, i just wanna monopolize resources and be able to protect my stuff from other people.

it'd also be cool to have a mod that lets you have your own faction with your own research.

SpaceX to spice up endgame a bit, what mod for enemies for a new player?

    Posted: 16 Jan 2020 07:29 AM PST

I am starting a new multiplayer game with a friend who is still somewhat new. We have launched a rocket previously on a Deathworld setting map, but our overall build was pretty disorganized. I grabbed SpaceX since it seems to be pretty close to vanilla, with just a longer endgame project to work on that requires building bigger.

Is there a best mod for making enemies a little more interesting without being over the top? Clearing nests at the end got a little tedious so I don't want to just turn up base size/frequency from Deathworld's default.

We after a few tries I manage to get the achievement, pollution on low and resource on high. But wanted to challenge myself and didn't use any blueprints. Was on the edge of my chair in the last half an hour

I kinda need help with designing a green circuit build for a 1K SPM base

    Posted: 16 Jan 2020 01:44 AM PST

    Title.

Designing everything for the base was quite easy. Smelter block, rocket silo, other science builds. But I just can't figure out how I'm supposed to do green circuit. Having a 12 beacon build is almost impossible for me to understand where to start, especially because the inserters can't keep up with cable production, and the ratio of cable : circuits is also not doable for direct insertion.

Only thing I could think of, is trying with a 8 beacon build instead of a 12 one. Tho that would mean I need more assemblers and stuff. Please, I need a little bit of help. Thanks in advance

My first factory, two days in. I hope you like spaghetti. Although, I have learnt a lot from this run and will apply it to my next one in terms of efficent main buses, etc
