Posted: 11 Dec 2019 05:28 AM PST I'm currently doing a city block playthrough and am requiring way more energy than I have needed for any of my previous factories. Normally I would rock boilers and solar panels instead of nuclear, but I decided to try something new this time. The goal was to make something that would a) fit in my 3x3 chunk blocks and b) have rotational symmetry. Each quadrant can be fed by one offshore pump to completely utilize all turbines, but to squeeze out the last 16MW, one would just add have to add another offshore pump and 3 additional turbines (4 if you care about symmetry) in place of the inner most tanks. Posted: 11 Dec 2019 03:30 AM PST I'm trying to do this: variable:"Steam Power Switch" = OFF //this variable activates the steam power plant -IF accumulator charge < 5 (percent) - set "Steam Power Switch" to ON //what's next is what i have trouble with -WHILE "Steam Power Switch" is ON -AND- -IF accumulator charge = 100 (percent) - set "Steam Power Switch to OFF I'm on solar power at the moment but didn't destroy my steam plant, i want it to activate only if accumulators are in dangerously low levels, but having only this is glitches out on me: -IF accumulator charge < 5 (percent) - set "Steam Power Switch" to ON in plain english: "If accumulators get too low, switch the steam plant and fill up accumulators before switching it off again" there is only one condition/signal for a device to execute an action, what i need basically is just having access to give 2 conditions btw this game is great for learning basic programming logic for civilians [link] [comments]

Just finished my Industrial Revolution run... What now? Posted: 11 Dec 2019 01:53 AM PST Originally I was planning to 1k base the run.. But I got burnt out and just launched the rocket and decided it was over for me. So now I want to start a fresh game and was wondering what to play. I know a lot of you will say seablocks or angelbobs but I want to go easy a bit and not stow far away from vanilla. What are your suggestions? I have played and enjoyed AAI. Is there any other mods with similar complexity? [link] [comments]
Posted: 11 Dec 2019 06:19 AM PST hi all. so i started a new game (after a bit of a hiatus) and i noticed that i was spending a lot of time just sort of... waiting for things. now i know that in the mid-late game its a whole different beast of bottleneck expansion and factory building but the early and early-mid game feels like an idle game. you click a few things, rund a few chores and then just wait until you get enough sciences unlocked that you can actually start to make a proper base. at any rate i remembered why i took that hiatus in the first place. i had launched a rocket, optimised a few things, and realised that to do better i would need to build a new base with better foundational infrastructure. so i started a new game and almost immidiatly lost steam. so im wondering, what is there to do about this? is it a problem with the game? or is it a problem with how i am playing it? should i be trying to treat the game like an idle game and not like i did on my first playthroughs? or do we just need a "reverse marathon" mode where science is cheaper and faster not longer and more expensive? Smart 2x4 Nuclear Reactor design Posted: 11 Dec 2019 02:28 AM PST So I needed a 2x4 reactor for my megabase, but I would like to have it "smart" so it wouldn't waste uranium (and because it's cool). I couldn't find any good smart designs, so I decided to enlarge [this reactor](https://imgur.com/gallery/j3mFQ) from a 2x2 to a 2x4 one. I kept most of the smart design, but decided to negate many of the programmable speakers and just went with one single obnoxious one to notify you of a low fuel cell amount. I also went with a simple percentile display for the steam storage (1 green for 25-50%, 2 green for 50-75%, 3 green for 75-99% and 4 green for 100%). Downside is that you have to have 2 sides of sea for connecting water to the reactor. (I like to build my reactors on lakes, so for me thats not a problem) (You can find my design here)[ https://factorioprints.com/view/-LvoV6cf-gyE-P-olxvr ] [link] [comments]
