LPT: You REALLY want to backup your blueprints, and it's easy Posted: 22 Dec 2019 12:33 AM PST The Problem: Several in the past have posted in agony, having accidentally deleted their entire blueprint book representing hours or weeks of work. (/u/factorioteam, you guys do a phenomenal amount of work, and we appreciate it! But please make time soon to add a simple confirmation dialog, "Do you really want to delete this entire blueprint book?") The best tip I've seen is going quickly to the file location of the blueprint storage and making a manual backup (https://www.reddit.com/r/factorio/comments/apmc38/if_you_accidentally_delete_a_blueprint_from_your/). Unfortunately, when I accidentally deleted my book that contains ALL of my blueprints for my 1KSPM base-in-progress, I went almost immediately to find the .dat file, but it had already updated itself, which means my prints were gone forever. Gone. The Solution: Except then I realized that yesterday I had made an impromptu backup and hadn't realized it. A friend wanted to see my base, so I opened it in multiplayer. He spent a couple of hours helping me, so I figured out how to share the blueprint book with him by dragging it from the "My Blueprints" side to the "Game Blueprints" side. It's the first time I've used that side, never had a need before. Now, I realized that it had a 1-day-old backup of my prints. So I lost a day's worth of updates, but that's nothing compared to the weeks I've been storing up in there. The Habit: So now I'm making a habit of simply dragging my books over to the other side every once in a while, so I always have a simple and easy to access backup. Thought the same habit might be useful to you guys, too. ("It'll never happen to me...") [link] [comments]

Posted: 22 Dec 2019 06:57 AM PST I've been playing for about 200 hours in factorio and have beaten the game a few times but one thing I've always struggled with is starting a mega-base. I always either lose interest or am just unhappy with how it's going so far. Any tips on starting and finishing a decent mega-base would be greatly appreciated! [link] [comments]
Posted: 21 Dec 2019 12:34 PM PST For some background knowledge, I've only ever bought one game in my life bc I've always been short on Money, but I've been thinking about getting Factorio. I've always played thousands of games to figure out what genre I like most and I love efficiency-based games where you can have tons of different possibilities for max efficiency and output. I was wondering if it was still worth it in 2019? I've been attempting to get Factorio for the past 3 years, but never able to get it. [link] [comments]
Posted: 21 Dec 2019 05:33 PM PST Lol. The amount of time I spent looking for nice open areas to work in for certain parts of my base when right next to my starting area would've been perfect. Ah well. I had a heap of fun on my bug safaris! [link] [comments]

What are some of the best mods/mod packs to play? Posted: 22 Dec 2019 02:16 AM PST I've play a lot of vanilla and recently started a game with Bobs mods. I kind of wanted to try some others. I've seen a few others on this sub too. Any suggestions? [link] [comments]
Posted: 21 Dec 2019 08:49 PM PST Hello everybody. I'm just starting to get the hang of this game and I thought, as addicting as this game is, it might be more fun with a buddy or two. Help me learn the ropes. After several restarts I've finally got something going. Not at all optimal from what I've seen on here but it's a start and I'm producing. The factory is growing... slowly. Pm me if you're interested. Ill make a discord and invite something like 3-4 interested people. I'm in the EST time zone if it helps with scheduling. [link] [comments]

Best Computer Specs for Factorio (2020) Posted: 22 Dec 2019 06:16 AM PST Okay megabase engineers - what computer specs do you recommend for Factorio going into the new decade? Laptop and desktop. I've seen older posts but not anything recent. Don't care about minimum requirements or cool stories about how it runs fine on your ten year old potato. I want real antectdata from megabase engineers about what you need to have decent performance at the 1K SPM level. Extra credit for details beyond raw power like heat and coil whine. Thanks a bunch. Output cargo count by wagon onto circuit network? Posted: 22 Dec 2019 12:16 AM PST Hi all, I'm aware that you can hook up a circuit to a train station to read the contents of the train. However can you hook up a circuit to read the contents of each wagon, rather than of the train overall? The issue I'm trying to solve is if I have two wagons, both being loaded from requester chests which have their filters set by a circuit, how do I avoid the bots overloading one carriage while ignoring the second one?
