    Is it possible to have a 6kSPM Megabase, completely vanilla, standard richness and patch size, with biters on and without going below 60 FPS??

    Factorie newbie here!

    So I've got this save and I managed to build a 1kSPM base. I want to expand it into a 6kSPM Megabase, but I'm also an FPS fanatic. I'd like to keep 60 frames if possible. Biters are on, patch size is normal and richness is standard too. Is it possible to do it? What are some tips that some OG players can offer me?

    I'm currently using Nuclear for energy(7 GW), I imagine to keep 60 FPS I have to go for solar? Also with my 1kSPM I'm currently on Mining Productivity 25 (250%), should I aim to go higher to offset the richness issues?

    [bob/angel] missing tech for iron pebbles ?

    it seems i dont hav the recipy nor the tech to unlock the iron pebbles in my game (i cant set the recipyy either in the current crushers).
    the reason why i needed to look at the pebbles is because just putting iron ore in a furnace doesnt seem to work either ^^

    any thought what setting i might have missed when i started my game ?

    How to deal with enemies?

    I have played for 71.9 hours and enjoyed it thoroughly the game but I have no idea on how your intended to deal with the enemies.

    Is it normal to play without them? It feels like playing Minecraft on peaceful or creative mode.

    Is there any strategise to deal with them offensively and defensively?

    Defensively I have tried turrets but they get overwhelmed and run out of ammo before I can make progress. For an offensive approach I have tried putting turrets just out of range and baiting them in, but then I get killed by the ranged ones.

    is there a personal logistics mod or something like that?

    basically on our world we have som giant crews of spidertrons and it would be very nice if we could make a distant mining crew work (a crew which you can send to already start mining ores that aren't connected to the train system yet) but for this to work we need to be able to insert the ores into their inventories and some more things, but that can't be done without logistics bot's and we can't build them on site as they need more than one ore to be built, so having something to auto insert logistic drones into the local drone system would be nice.

    Factorio on Linux doesn't seem to work with Cinnamon 5.0

    For those of us playing Factorio on Linux, I thought it worth pointing out that there seems to be a fairly serious problem with the new version of the Cinnamon desktop environment and Factorio 1.35+.

    When you try to start Factorio on it, it fails with a fairly generic C++ error. Being that no other DE or WM seems to be having trouble, I think this is likely to be a Cinnamon problem and not a Factorio problem.

    The easiest workaround I've found so far is to downgrade to version 4.8 of Cinnamon Desktop Environment.

    While this may not affect many players, I hope this post is helpful to someone searching for answers.

    LTN requests spikes, how to deal with it?

    In my base, I had an LTN setup with small train, 1 loco - 2 wagon. A problem starts to appear when the base have request spikes, for example when I made a new smelting area and it suddenly request 16 wagon of ores.

    I have attempted to add more and more train, but I think its kind of stupid solution, as now the LTN trains is either idling or lagging too hard.

    Although I do understand that it is my mistake to use such a small train setup, is there a way to alleviate this? I wish for a hints to make a better LTN system setup, especially resistant to request spikes

    Created my first google sheets custom function for my factorio spreadsheet

    I've been working on a 1k spm base (1k lab research, not 1k science packs) and instead of just using helmod or factory planner I opted to write out a spreadsheet for... yaknow... funsies.

    The yellow science sheet, the highlighted cell has the custom function in it.

    I also needed a second one to figure out the numbers of each production layout, but that one is a mess.

    I started getting into G suite scripting for something else though recently and found out about making custom functions! I figured what better way to learn than to increase the useability of my spreadsheets.

    This is the code I mashed out; it only works for level 3 modules, I barely know javascript, and having 5 arguments makes it kinda messy, but hey, it works!

    Hey and look at that else block! It even has a custom error message if you try to make it divide by zero!

    Next I'll split operation speed into a separate function to decrease the number of arguments, and maybe add support for lower tiers of modules for the heck of it. I may also let the names of machines be used in place of their modifier so I don't have to go find it whenever I'm not sure.

    If it turns out I did my math wrong I'm sure someone will let me know...

    The grey planner world

    How do you creat the world where there are no trees, water, cliffs, etc. and everything is grey and black and divided into squares. I see that people use it for planning blueprints, but I don't seem to find it. Can anyone help?
