    I bought the game about a day and a half ago, after playing a pirated version a few years back and wanting to get back into it, and Ive spent 23 hours on the game since, is this normal, do I need help, I think I'm slightly obsessed.

    Went through my old saves, found my very first base and this was my unloading station, and yes, I unload all ores in the same place... I learned alot since then!

    TL;DR: You get the badge for launching the rocket with less than {x} tree removals/kills (including dead ones).

    I'm a relatively new player, and decided to set my sights on getting some achievements under my belt, after trying and failing dismally to get past level 11 of the supply scenario.

    I'm proud to say that I got the lazy bastard, but I also set myself the task of not taking out more than 20 trees. So while I can't keep up with a lot of ya'all in terms of great base design, I can say the factory can grow without killing the trees or removing dead trunks (they're habitat for native species!)

    The avoiding of killing/removing trees adds difficulty because using grenades or flamethrowers is pretty much out of the question and makes rail and belt placement a real challenge. So, as weird as it sounds in a game that's all about the factory growth, I'd love to see a badge for this kind of challenge.

    Thoughts?

    Is it possible to make a circuit that will "display" if an item is increasing or decreasing in storage...
    I want to use it to be able to quickly see if my oil (petrol in particular) storage is going up or down..

    I guess I'd need something like: (check value) -> wait a tick or two -> (check value) -> compare the two values and if it's going up, light a green lamp, if it's going down light a red lamp..... or something like that.

    I hope im explaining it properly...

    factorio.school broken?

    Whenever i try to load the site i get nothing but a gray background . Tried disabling browser addons and even changing browsers , but the same thing happens.

    Help me understand my train routing

    [I found the issue. I simply overlooked a wrong stop in the routing, the pathing and signals are all correct. Leaving this up in case anyone wants to look at my horrific setup]

    So, ignore that the following is a very scuffed setup and probably has tons of improvements to be made both to the factory and to the train network. This is my first proper playthrough of the game so i'm just winging it.

    I ran into a problem that, with much testing and alternate routing, i cannot fix. So i thought i'd has here (since steams forums don't allow edited screenshots which i need here for clarity).

    My problem is as follows:

    The train is currently at Copper 1 and the next stop on the list is Base North.

    I expect the train to take this route. It is the shortest and most direct one and other than there being a train at the Base 1 station, the tracks are close to always empty. ~80% of the time, the train will take this route.

    But ~20% of the time, the train will take this route instead. And i cannot figure out why. It has no stop at Base Iron West. So why is it taking this insanely long detour?

    I also marked the chunks in the relevant parts, in case they are necessary:

    At first i thought it was because the train is "clever" and sees that there are trains on the shorter path and thusly takes the long one, but 1. there are trains on the long one too (mainly ones parked in Base Iron West) and 2. i tried a different setup and the train just didn't want to evade other trains on that one.

    Here is the different setup. A train from Base North could take both routes, the one with the train station Base Iron West and the very slightly longer one around it. They went through the station 100% of the time, regardless of if there was a train there and the other one being empty. I then had two stops for Base Iron West (on both lines visible here) but then the trains from that route ALWAYS went there and never went to the actual stop, which was left empty.

    I know there is plenty to be improved but why are the trains taking the super long route?
