Each city block spans a 5 x 4 roboport grid. Along the top of each block are four East-to-West railway lines, along the bottom are four West-to-East railway lines. Stations are placed on the left and right hand sides of the city block, connecting only to the inner-most main lines. (Each city block is a kind of giant roundabout if you like.) Each station line has enough room for three 1/4 trains (my current arrangement). Each station has its own dedicated in-bound trains, although output is (so far) generic. For instance, I may have three "Iron plates 1 / ore" stations on a smelting block, but its output lines will simply be labelled "Iron plates", the same as any other iron smelting blocks. There are still some issues to deal with, not least robots getting "stuck" trying to return from distant outposts. That is a real pain I will have to sort out. Power is "nuclear on a land-filled lake". Each pair of reactors services a linear row of heat exchangers and turbines. There is no solar power here (waste of space in my opinion). The science block is a single beaconed, balanced 500 SPM unit that makes all science, including the rocket facility. It takes something like 20 manufactured inputs (plates, circuits, plastic, low density structures, that sort of thing). Tips for scaling after Logistics Posted: 05 Jun 2021 07:26 AM PDT I am a new baby factorio player. I am on my first playthrough and finally finished a giant awful ugly mess of a factory to make red, green, blue, silver, and yellow science pots so I FINALLY have Logistics unlocked. How do you guys handle constantly consuming resources and expanding across the map. I have access to a ton of all resources (I go out bug purging to keep them far away from my base fairly often), but I can't quite wrap my head around how to amass and use/store resources. Part of me wants to expand across my map like an unholy cancer consuming everything, but there doesn't seem to be any centralized storage. I've been kinda working backwards after I set up a central iron and copper hub. Any time I need something more advanced, I set up a base big enough to make it, but not big enough to consume all the resources. I have lots of train lines, and now with Logistics I can really go bonkers, but I'm not sure about what to do when I start harvesting massive quantities of resources. submitted by /u/Disrupter52 [link] [comments] |

Burner inserters not picking up fuel? Posted: 05 Jun 2021 05:00 AM PDT We use coal fired steam engines in our factory, burner inserters feed the boilers from a red belt. I've noticed times when a group of burner inserters will have plenty of fuel in front of them, but refuse to pick it up. Instead complaining of not having fuel.
