Tell me what are your favourite ideas for playing PvP with friends. Do you recommend any specific settings or mods? Do you have any favourite server for this? Is the PvP in Factorio a fun thing to do?

Tried something different for green circuits

Tried something different for green circuits

Edit: I'm dumb - forgot to add the pic lmao

I just wanted to do something a bit different from what I usually use - though it's probably been done before, here is a 8-belts production worth of green circuits. I'm kinda proud of this and I've replaced every green belt design I had built with this.

I tried to do something similar with blue belts too, though it's not working quite as well aha

So iron comes in from the South & copper from the North, and green circuits exit out of & are balanced on the sides.

Fair warning: I don't care about ratios, so I am aware the 8 belts of iron & copper are not fully used. Also, english isn't my native langage so my apologies if my English is off!

6k Science (Reverse) Megabase - Belts only, no robots, no trains

    So... I'm made a thing..

I've spent 66 hours building a base inspired by the Reverse Megase series by Nilaus on Youtube

First of all, there is a few cheats in this megabase :

    • My electricity grid is made only of super substastions, avaible via the Editor Extension Mod
    • For the construction, I used the super bots and robotports. I didn't remove them at the end, because they're not actually in use anymore. It was only for construction
    • All ore/oil patches are spawned with the editor
    • I hate fluids so I have infinity pipes for water everywhere I need it, and a few for oil also
    • For the same reason I used super substations and super roboports, I used super radars. I didn't want to have a thousand of them
    • There is no night

The megabase is restricted with those two rules :

    • Zero trains, Zero robots
    • The only use of a logic network is at the rocket launch site. It is very minimal, since it only uses green wires. No calculator or anything

Also, I absolutely love balancers. So, every single belt is balanced, and lane balanced. I know that a lot of this balancing is useless, but I love it anyway

It is not that CPU intensive. I can achieve 60 FPS/UPS with a i7 4750HQ and 16Go of RAM. My GPU is a GeForce 980m 4Go for the record

It can absolutely maintain 6K science/min as long as the ore patches are there. Since they are spawned in, I can always add to them

I know this isnt the conventional way of playing the game, I used a lot of shortcuts for electricty and fluids, but at the end, almost everything is vanilla. There is no other mod than the Editor Extension one, and a few QoL mods

I had A LOT of fun building this, this is my first base that can sustain such an amount of science/min.

If you want more pictures, ask away !

Getting started on my first mega base...

Getting started on my first mega base...

So I have been learning the game and playing around with bus layouts etc for around 200 hours... I recently started a fresh save with the ultimate goal of creating a mega base SO FAR I have not used any external blueprints... That may changed but I am trying to figure out everything myself so I don't just copy others but created something original and hopefully good!

Does your language include the concept of 'fluids'?

    Posted: 15 Mar 2021 07:12 PM PDT

I recently noticed steam was denoted as a 'vloeistof' (liquid) in the Dutch localization of the game, which makes sense as the English term used in the game is not translatable (fluid) since it also means gas. Hence I was wondering, does this funny inconsistency also plague the other translations?

Fixing this is probably impossible, without scrapping the term 'fluid' from the game entirely 😂 (I didn't even know this also referred to gasses in English before) so I guess that's here to stay :)

(Disclaimer: I do not consider 'fluïdum' a contemporary Dutch word)

    Megabase: where to start?

    Posted: 15 Mar 2021 09:32 PM PDT

A month ago I resumed one of my first game saves that I played in 0.17, updated the recipes, expanded, optimised, etc. I have already completed the game and researched all technology, and I was thinking about making a megabase, using my current base as the starter base.

My issue is: I have never designed a megabase, and I don't know where to start. I have seen that people use bots, trains or belts, but I don't know which one to choose. I have also seen that some people build a single main base, others build multiple bases connected by trains and others make city blocks, I honestly don't know the pros and cons of each design.

I also have to decide between nuclear and solar power, I see that people usually go for solar but it takes a lot of space to produce something like 10 GW.

My target is 500 SPM, any tips would be appreciated
