    35 hours in the best tutorial of my life. Bought the game, now breaking my mind on how to get oil and plastic. Meanwhile my iron reserves are running low, got to build those trains. I LOVE IT.

    I’ve abandoned my last game cause I felt new found confidence... just destroyed my starting base to make room for this. This is my own design though I’m sure I’m just reinventing it.

    Does a v1.0+ blueprint exist for a single all-science belt-based setup that produces required circuits on-site? Here's a screenshot of one I found for v0.17 as an example.

    As promised here is X1KV3 Sit-rep Week 13

    So, in case anyone missed it, I started a new map with science set to be 1,000 times more expensive than normal. I gave myself a large starting area and increased the yield of my resource patches. Biters, Evolution, Expansion and Pollution are all switched on, I cheesed cliffs to make them shorter and smaller and I cheesed biters Making fewer but larger bases. I have failed this challenge twice and this is my 3rd attempt.

    Greetings fellow factorions.

    Guys, Only a short update this week because nothing of any importance has happened really.

    The difficult thing was finishing red circuits build so that i could have red circuits to finish red circuit build o_O I had a huge shortage of white and green inserters but once i got a few red circuits going it snowballed and now i have all the inserters I need to finish of my science labs

    Science labs are done and I am using white inserters to feed through the labs in different directions each colour science pack. each lab has 6 white inserters... times 2k of labs = 12k white inserters. That's a lot of inserters!

    So the output for science is finished and with different sciences taking different lengths of time to process the science packs then I have enough labs to process 2k science packs with 60 second timers. When i do these big researches then all my science labs will be working and glowing pretty colours and it will look great but whenever i do a 30 second science pack research then the labs will only look half full and even less full with 15 second science pack researches. Oh well, I dont have many 15-30 second timers left.

    With the labs done then I suppose I should make back science with the red belt blue machine spec. This has been remarkably simple and also very pleasant to mess around and blue print the new science builds and as of last night I have Red, Green and Grey science capable of 2k science per minute and Blue science is close to being finished. It really is a pleasure though to have all the smelters and mines finished and just connect belts and watch it work.

    I have all the belts of resources ready to go for purple and yellow science apart from 17 red belts of copper plate which i need to find for yellow science. I may have to expand again into biter territory and secure a couple more copper mine sites or I may be able to juggle what I have in order to get the rocket tech.

    That's is about it really. Nothing extraordinary has happened. No power problems, no biter problems. Walls are being fed and repaired and attacks are very minimal due to not researching and so therefore not polluting. I am sure that when I start up research the attacks will come thick and fast and perhaps i will have some biter problems then but i think it is all going to be fine.

    I predict that this time next week I will have all the researches done and perhaps even the challenge finished and with that in mind I have been trying to think of a new challenge if I finish this one. Maybe X1KV1 Bobs or X1KV1 SpaceX or X1K Krastorio 2....or ..... how about ... keep it vannila and go for X10KV1. 10,000 times more expensive... now that would be epic and should be about 160 hours just to finish automation. Well lots to think about while i make the rest of this base and I shouldn't count my eggs before they hatch.

    Thinking outside the box I was wondering if i should start to collect pictures of brown beasts with thick woolly fur. Wild animals like bears and Bisons! I could call it the Byson Bear Project. Or If i was to do a blog on how different vacuum cleaners attachments work to get in tight places... like the sharp pointy attachment for getting down the side of tight gaps....its shaped a bit like a spear. I could call it the Dyson Spear Project.... well just some food for thought...

    Is it a good idea to turn cliffs of on railworld?

    I was thinking about making a railworld map with max rich and max size, but only 25% frequency. Enemy settings would be turned on to allow expansion, but nothing else. What should my settings be for terrain, and should I leave cliffs on or turn them off?

    Compare if chest A has more than B

    So, I have 2 loading stations in my outpost and I want to compare if loading station A has more resources than B in the chests to change train signal value and make train go to the one that has more resources stored not to empty just 1 loading station.

    How do I connect combinators and chests to compare if chest in station A has more than in chest B?
    Chest has output of resource and value and how do I read that in combinator to compare input A and B?

    I'm on the tutorial campaign and trying to connect the iron farm with the "main" base but the train doesn't want to move. Do I really need to make a loop so the train can go forward? The allready blueprint tracks on the ground don't suggest it's needed. What should I do?

    Emptied Barrels Becoming a Nightmare?

    Hey all!

    Whenever you have assemblers that are unpacking barrels, you end up having to offload the emptied barrels into a box so the assembler doesn't get clogged up... But eventually that chest will get clogged up. What does everyone do w/ their emptied barrels? I don't have enough things packing barrels up for other things to have those barrels get used :|

    Question about multilayer mode

    I have about 600 hours in factorio. I love it.

    But I have never played a minute of multilayer. I don't like the pressure of caring on a conversation with strangers, or the feeling of not knowing what someone else expects out of me (and then disappointing them).

    So my question: what is the multilayer experience like if I'm not bringing friends with me into the game? I heard there are public lobbies I can join, but don't know what I'd be getting into.

    112 Hours in. Finally automated all 4 pack 1s of Energy, Astronomic, Material, and Biological sciences in K2SE with many QoL mods. Pics in post.

    I used quite a few quality of life improvement mods beyond the Krastorio 2 and Space Exploration. I used mining drones, nano bots, transport drones, Renai transportation (mostly for the thrower inserters), quality of life research (since long reach broke), squeak thru, and factorissimo. I build in blocks where the width of the road is 4 cells and each block is 3 large power poles in width and height.

    K2 really helps with SE since K2 underground belts are naturally longer, and K2 underground pipes are naturally 20 in length instead of 10. As well, you have loaders (works wonder with the depots in mining and transport drones), and you have larger boxes and fluid tanks.

    Here is the current orbit base.

    And here is the current Nauvis base.

    Transport drones makes it so that I can plop down builds anywhere instead of organizing things the way traditional main bus type base. Though I do admit its kinda cheaty especially for space. In space there are something like 19 different fluids I would have to mainbus otherwise. I see that people use the 9 length pipes for that but I've not figured it out.

    Here are my builds for the 4 space sciences: Energy, Astronomics, Biological, and Material. Here is also a shot of the recycling/decontamination center. Oh also in that shot is my space landing pad.

    So far I've gotten shipping to Nauvis automated for all 4 new metals as well as Vulcanite and Cryonite. But my shipping to orbit base is still manual and I am finding that I have to fire 3 rockets worth of stuff there every trip I make and stuff is still runnning out. I am not sure where to go from here now, it took long enough to do the pack 1s, and there is still 3 more levels of each science until I get to Deep space, where matter conversion from K2 is locked behind. I am 110 hours in and I imagine it'll be another 200 hours before spaceship?

    Main Bus Sulphuric Acid

    So I've just come back to the game after a while, I got it a very long time ago but only recently started looking up guides and playing optimally so to speak, so i recently made my first main bus and I've been having trouble with the sulphuric acid. Is there a way that I'm supposed to produce enough of it to be able to fill an entire main bus worth of pipes to 100? I don't know whether I'm producing it optimally, I haven't researched ratios or anything so any help is appreciated.
