Has anyone noticed that the factory sounds are syncopated? Posted: 23 Dec 2020 10:48 PM PST You can put a radar next to a boiler next to an assembler with a bunch of inserters and they all have the same rhythm. Essentially you can turn your factory into a giant musical machine. [link] [comments]

An interview with kovarex about StarCraft and Factorio Posted: 23 Dec 2020 02:51 PM PST Hello, My name is Sonko, and this is my first post in this subreddit. This is clearly self-promotion, but I've discussed this with people in the Discord who gave me the go-ahed to post it. I'm a big Factorio player myself, of course. I mostly work with StarCraft AI, and create content about it. The API used for that is created by kovarex, so that was the connection, and the reason I asked him for an interview. We talked 3 hours, and he is a truly passionate, exceptional individual. Happy listening! ps.: Added the Fan Creation flair, for lack of a better one [link] [comments]
Any free games similar to Factorio? Posted: 23 Dec 2020 02:35 PM PST I watched a few videos on factorio and I was immediately hooked, sadly I'm 13 and still can't buy video games as my parents never bought anything online and are scared of any site stealing credit card information and I just can't get them to buy anything for me, and I don't wanna pirate because it's illegal and such games as factorio don't deserve to be pirated. So... Any free games like factorio? Edit below Here is the common replies I've seen: Mindustry, Factorio Demo, shapez.io and factoryidle.com Thanks to u/Kaiylu for giving me Factorio for free! Am I the only one who creates a perfectly OCD-worthy electrical grid across my entire base? Posted: 24 Dec 2020 06:45 AM PST I have something like 200 hours in Factorio, I've launched rockets in one of my save files, and I try to keep things VERY organized. I just started playing multiplayer with a couple friends for the first time and of course this never came up playing by myself, but they want to slap electrical poles down wherever they feel like it. They might set up a pattern of some sort for a repeating part of the factory, but they won't stick with the same pattern across the entire factory, and they'll toss random poles wherever they want. So this leads me to ask... am I the only one who does it my way? I typically use wooden poles, and starting from my steam-power plant, I place every single pole in a perfect grid, spaced maximally (so 2 dead tiles between each coverage area). I don't put a pole in every potential spot, but no pole is ever out of alignment with the grid. I stick with one consistent grid no matter how far away any given location is from my main base. Posted: 24 Dec 2020 04:06 AM PST It's finally some free time, so I would love to come back to Factorio after a half a year break. I'm asking you for best QOL and game changing mods. I must say that after getting a few factories that were sending hundreds of rockets a minute in vanilla game with some improvements like electric trains, bobs logistics, bobs warfare and a few other useful mods I want to start a new, pretty overhauled game! Looking at you bobs + angels combo! As I don't think 0.18 mods setup would work well with the new versions. Let me know what mods should I look for and their best configurations! I would be very grateful. Happy Christmas to all of you! [link] [comments]
help with network circuits? please? Posted: 24 Dec 2020 06:13 AM PST ok so what i have is my main generator power grid (that powers my whole factory) and my secondary generator power grid (that powers ONLY a uranium and coal mining outpost) if i just let it go like this, i'll have power going to waste, and my main base is lacking on energy rn, so i could use some extra power from the secondary grid what i did is: whenever the accumulator of the second grid is >80% it will share the work by turning on a power switch, but with this, at night it will turn on and off every tick, so it will blink like fireworks(i have lamps) what can i do to make the power switch on when accumulator >80% and off when <15% until reach >80% again? with this it won't blink like crazy at night [link] [comments]
Which resource is used the most Copper or Iron? Posted: 24 Dec 2020 06:06 AM PST Also just to the point to launch 1 rocket. Say at 50spm. I'm thinking it's copper. But I may be wrong. [link] [comments]

Industrial Revolution 2 appreciation thread Posted: 23 Dec 2020 07:25 PM PST A new version of Industrial Revolution 2 dropped today! For those who are out of the loop, Industrial Revolution was a major overhaul mod that came out late last year. It was best known for its majestic overhaul of in-game entities, boatloads of intermediate products, extended pre-electricity gameplay, and sequencing of the game progression into research-gated epoch ("stone age", "bronze age", etc.) It was a product with a level of polish I have rarely seen in professionally developed video games, never mind mods. Industrial Revolution 1 became unavailable in April of this year by request of the developer, Deadlock989. There was some drama, and at the time it seemed unlikely that it would return in any form. Well, that was then and this is now. Industrial Revolution 2 is out! The first thing you see when you open the game is a gorgeous industrial scene. Veterans of Industrial Revolution will recognize several machines, but already you can tell something is different. For example there are odd-looking pipes coming out of the copper assemblers and snaking through the inserters! What sorcery is this? Welcome to the world of Industrial Revolution 2! The gorgeous burner laboratory has been replaced by a no less gorgeous and quite eclectic steam laboratory. And in fact most early game entities seem to run off steam, even the inserters! Steam pipes have replaced coal lines and power lines for the early game. Watch them snake through your base. Beyond the (IMO astonishing) turn to steam power, veterans of Industrial Revolution will notice some minor changes. Furnaces no longer require a recipe to be configured, and their behavior appears to align with vanilla furnaces. Ore crushing no longer improves smelting yield; rather, it reduces the pollution output of the furnace. There are no more saplings: wood is made from wood in a greenhouse, and it can be mulched in a grinder. This is about as far as I've made it. No doubt I will get into it some more over the holidays. Deadlock989, if you're reading this, I am grateful for the wonderful Christmas gift. The efforts you've put into this are obvious in every second. The amount of polish is incredible. Thank you!
