I just picked up the demo a few days ago and haven't been able to put it down. This game is awesome!

My first rocket launch factory! It took me 87 hours to complete. I turned biters to peaceful as they were a bit too much and installed a few mods. I absolutely fell in love with this game - played 12h in my first session. Was upgrading Iron+Steel when I noticed I can research the silo

I really thought I managed to stop factorio this time... And COVID came. This is 21h later.

First blue science in YEARS, along with my first use of rail

Haven't played in like 2-3 years, I've never finished the game and I've never used rails. This is my factory segment I built around an oil field. I'm also playing on a pretty hard world too. Anyway, thought I could share.

My tiny starting base after 6 hours - This tiny base is with Angel's, Bob's and Rampant mods, so the resources are infinite. I never launched a rocket in vanilla or otherwise, as i'm not interested in doing so, neither building a megabase for SPM. I just like to research, build and fight :)

What it feels like when you replace the initial base

    Posted: 19 Jun 2020 11:55 AM PDT

We don't know when they're coming, but we know they are. They've told us since we started. We knew what we were signing up for, we just didn't know how little time we were going to have. It was honest work, and we were simple. We weren't worried about getting things anywhere quickly. Often times we were backed up, holding excess goods because they weren't taking more.

We thought things would get better once the gunfire stopped, and again once the walls came down and were removed. But then the rails came through and we had to make way. Day by day we did what work we could. Some days you had full stock and the next nothing. Then the work became constant. After a while, this teetering cycle slowed and then suddenly stopped. The supply envoys started to run thin. We were left there with just the stock on hand, our goods piled up, and we waited. Sometimes they would pass through, but it became more and more infrequent. They told us once it was over, we'd be included in the new plan. That there was always a place for us somewhere.

Everything changed that day. They came and took us. All of us: yellow, red, blue, it didn't matter. Our work had already run thin. They took the nice steel furnaces that feel like they were just added because of how much we needed to work. We were told we would be repurposed, but instead, they rebuilt us. They changed and adapted us to their world so that we could keep up. We were simple, but everything became complicated. No one knows why. There was only one thing that seemed common knowledge throughout. Everyone said it and it sounded as if the place itself was humming it: The factory must grow.

    Quick question about steam achievements

    Posted: 20 Jun 2020 03:19 AM PDT

I started a game with all my mods off to finally get the achievements in steam. But I turned biters off as I really don't enjoy playing with them, is it still OK, or do I need to play with them to get the achievements?

Of course I won't have those related to biters, but I don't really care

Finally managed to hit 1kspm after 24 train deaths in a peaceful world

There is no spoon - got it on my first try in 6:47

    Posted: 19 Jun 2020 06:55 PM PDT

So I've been playing a lot of factorio this past week and I've decided to try the achievement today. Yesterday I've launched my first rocket, so I thought I'd be a bigger challenge (launched it on 18h). But it turns out that the achievement is not that hard, once you set your mind to the task and think only in terms of speed, rather than efficiency or design. I got it under 7h and I am pretty happy about it.

    Some things I have learned:

    1. You will need a lot of cooper and iron. I think I had about 100 steel furnaces of each.
    2. I built 40 boilers/steam engines sets.
    3. You'll always need more circuits, especially reds.
    4. Don't bother with trains or bots. They are awesome, but for this run they are just a waste of time.
    5. Start making the rocket items before you actually build the silo. This is very important.
    6. Don't bother making factories for belts or inserters. I think that it is perfectly fine to craft all that by hand.
    7. Always craft something. Don't stay idle and don't lose focus. Only research the things that you'll actually use for the silo. You can also research other things that will give you speed, but try to research the others first.
    8. I built 30 laboratories and focused on 45 spm. It was hard to keep that up, but I think I got it over 30 spm most of the time.
    9. Build a lot of fluid storage. Otherwise your production will stall and you'll lose time fixing it.
    10. And of course, have fun. I think that this challenge is great to test yourself and your designs. It is worth doing it even if you are not a veteran in the game.

Ah, and I didn't use any seeds or blueprints. It was great.

Edit: so that you know my timings.

    1h05: Green and red science.

    1h59: blue science

    3h48: purple science

    5h33: yellow science

    6h47: rocket launch

Remove Military Tech - mod that removes (hides) all military items from the game

    Posted: 19 Jun 2020 05:04 PM PDT

A few days ago I had asked about removing the player weapon and ammo slots found in the bottom-right of the screen, because I was working on a mod that would remove all military technology/items/recipes from the game. While I wasn't planning to upload the mod to Factorio Mods, there was some interest in the mod so I decided to fix it up and release it.

    Presenting Remove Military Tech.

There are settings to enable certain weapon types if desired (for tree removal or for destroying chests full of useless junk). I don't ever disable any of the technologies or items, I just hide them, so if you have something in your inventory (like grenades) and then turn off grenades, the items won't go away, but you won't be able to craft more of them.

I'm still searching for a way to remove/hide those weapon/ammo slots... so if anyone discovers how please let me know.

Now that this is finally done... I can finally grow my factory... :)

Train waits at the entry of parking spots.

    Posted: 20 Jun 2020 01:06 AM PDT

Train waits at the entry of parking spots.

Hi, I'm using a lot of train parking lots in my current map. But the last one I built is not working correctly. Normally I put 4-6 parking lots, but in this situation, I need more than 10 parking spots. As you can see in the image, train waits for the first spot but its already taken by another train. When I change the train route to manuel from automatic and then back to the automatic, it finds the free spot and parks to it. When the train waits for free parking spot at the entry, all the other trains wait behind of it, so my base doesn't work properly.
