The past month of making artwork has been one hell of a grind. I'm not an artist. At all. I do know Blender a lot better now though, so I've got that going for me, which is nice. Memes aside, I'm posting here because a few people had interest in knowing about this mod should it ever come to life. Well, here it is. I apologize for the shitty art ahead of time. I have no real skill there, and even less when I'm restricted to 32x32 pixels. I tried to make everything distinct enough that you'd be able to tell what it was and not get it confused with other parts. I also organized all of the parts into their own tab, and rows based on what they are (IE: all MSR parts are on a pair of rows together, all LWR parts are together; with two other rows for common parts used by more than one reactor design). In terms of in-game performance, solar panels are still, technically, less UPS impact than these reactors. That said, with just 45 reactors you can generate 60GW and those 45 reactors will take up a very small plot of land. Each reactor itself takes only a single update to process, so if the entire solar grid takes 1 update, the nuclear update would be '45' instead of 1. Considering that a single 1GW nuclear reactor with vanilla factorio parts is around '450', I'd say this mod accomplished its goal. I was unable to use the 'reactor' prototype for this mod, so the reactors stop and start with demand instantly. That said, if you'd like to smooth out that demand, consider using: https://mods.factorio.com/mod/EnhancedGridEnergyStores which added more energy dense options for accumulators that are balanced in terms of material cost. It also adds new satellite options using those energy stores that return more science packs (to offset the higher material cost) per launch; allowing you to stop building accumulators entirely. I could make a version of the nuclear mod that used the 'reactor' prototype, but it would be even less efficient than what I just built, because it would have to use the heat system and at least two entities (the reactor itself, and the generator that takes heat and converts it to energy). The realism of the reactor prototype isn't worth the UPS impact IMO. I feel like i should say more, but the reality is I just love nuclear power, and enjoyed the 2 months spent researching facts, figures, sizes, densities, and other technical data far more than anything else while making this mod. I will now go and enjoy playing with it. I fundamentally made it for me. I'm just not greedy enough to keep it to myself. If anyone wants to learn more about nuclear energy (either the mod, or IRL) I'm here and happy to teach. Few things would make me happier than for this mod to spark someone's interest in nuclear energy. [link] [comments] | ||

Everything looked greyish and thus i never understood the need of lights in nighttime in factorio. I got the screen replaced. And holy moly, i am now scared to go in dark. Watching factorio while playing factorio Posted: 10 Jan 2020 12:45 AM PST Because its so much fun, I usually watch factirio while playing factorio, but as i have close to 2000 hours in, i have also watched nearly as much factorio and are now looking for new players to watch. So can you guys and girls recommed good channels/playlists to watch to scratch that itch. I like modded gameplay like warptorio, space exploration and wave defence, but dont really care for seablock or angel´s I have so far watched a lot of the following streamers:

Do biters expand if you haven't explored the map Posted: 10 Jan 2020 05:58 AM PST I am playing with the space exploration mod so the starting planet is limited in size. You can also use the satellite you launch to look at the map and discover new areas while scrolling around. I want to use it to see how big the planet is to know roughly when I need to start considering moving to a new planet for more resources. Are the biter colonies always in the game or are they generated once I reveal parts of the map. I dont want to have the outskirts the starting planet swarmed with creature because I explored it way before I would need it. [link] [comments] | ||

Posted: 10 Jan 2020 06:34 AM PST So I'm pretty new to factorio, with 20-25 hours to my name mostly because I stand at the end of production lines picking up materials to craft, which I came across a bit of a conundrum when experimenting with blueprints. I was trying to build a wall, with laser turrets (which I automated the production of :D ) and power lines set slightly back from the edge of the wall to give the biters some nibble time. Then I unlocked the blueprint book, and attempted to use it to copy the design over and over again. However, when it came to placing down the blueprint shadow I couldn't do the trick where you hold click on the powerlines and move, with the tower stretching to maximum length before placing. I did end up placing down all the walls and turrets manually as the pollution was starting to waft down the burrows of the biters, but how about should I approach this next time I come to building a long wall section?
