Posted: 27 Nov 2020 04:12 AM PST I want to play with a friend, but we both have different views on how to manage a base. So I thought it would be cool if we could have separate research trees, and we'd build our own bases near each other so that we can frequently visit each other, help each other, blueprint things. I tried doing this with the LUA commands provided: This did indeed solve the issue of the research trees, because we both have different trees now and we're not hostile to each other. Unfortunately when I tried to interact with my buddy, it said I can't. I also cannot blueprint buildings that he placed. Does anyone know of a way to circumvent this? Ideal scenario:

I do not understand fuild mechanics Posted: 27 Nov 2020 06:05 AM PST I have two pipes that merge into one pipe. On that one pipe connecting the two, the fluid count is at 100/100. Then I have a pump connected directly to it, and it's ouput is 70/100. Why isn't it at 100/100??? [link] [comments]
How do i "teach" someone how to be good? Posted: 27 Nov 2020 05:42 AM PST To elaborate, I am by no means the best but since I have played for much longer than my friends, I know alot more of dos and don't to make things more compact, orderly and above all efficient I'm simply wondering how I should go about teaching them how a setup would be made efficiently and when you should make it. (Starter base - mid base - mega base) [link] [comments]
Posted: 27 Nov 2020 12:05 AM PST I've had this game in my library for a long time but only have 3.5 hours, most of that time consisting of me doing the tutorial constantly trying to understand how to play. I'll re-install it every so often in the hopes that it'll finally click and I'll understand all the love and hype, and that has yet to happen. After I complete the tutorial I go on to start a new game and follow what I learned, only to soon be confused, frustrated, and bored. I guess I'm doing something wrong seeing as 98k people on Steam have left a positive review regarding how addicting and fun it is while I only last about 20 minutes before giving up. I have looked into guides and videos but I still haven't grasped it. What should I do? Edit: Thank you all for sharing your experiences and giving wonderful and helpful advice! I will try the game again when I wake up. If you'd like to play with me at all or help guide me further as I play, you can add me through Steam with my friend code here: 113160990 [link] [comments]

Headless linux server, openLDAP integration? Posted: 27 Nov 2020 02:29 AM PST Hello. I'm a homelabber (and sysadmin student), which means I'll use my homelab for pretty much everything, ie, all my factorio saves are (automatically setup by a script) headless server instances (individual LXC containers) so I can easily switch between my laptop and my desktop, or even connect from wherever I am over the internet. Nice nice! That does however mean that I am restricting access (through the whitelist file) so that some random ppl cant connect if they for some reason get a hold of the urls (same url, different ports) to my different saves. However, I'd like to integrate openLDAP (which I use for Nextcloud, pfSense, Zabbix, etc etc) so that I can use a group in openLDAP to allow some of my friends to access my factorio servers as well. And editing the whitelist on all the server instances when needed is surely doable, or symlinking them all to a single file, but I've got openLDAP and, well, it's way more fun to try to figure that integration out! I was thinking that I might have to create a mod to accomplish something like this, but I've got like zero experience with lua (except from some minor lua scripts for CFWd psp in early 2000s) and would like a few pointers, or maybe even some example code if there's some other mod that interacts with some kind of user authentication/verification that I could learn from. So I was wondering if someone might have some knowledge, and is it even possible to do something like this? Please bear with my lack of knowledge about mods, just started my first save with mods (RadioNetwork, Factory Planner and Bottleneck) so I'm completely new to mods, and has NO CLUE what-so-ever about how (un)restricted they are xD [link] [comments]

Any good space exploration tips for when you are just getting into space? Posted: 27 Nov 2020 07:34 AM PST Also, why are there so few resources? About how much is on nauvis in total, given the space exploration preset? And why does my oil run out so quickly? I have a 1900% deposit which has gone down to 1750% in just a few hours, and my current oil setup is pretty small (Just two 8-2-7 refineries) [link] [comments]
Posted: 26 Nov 2020 04:23 PM PST I know this is an international comunity and not everyone celebrate the holiday, but I still want to say thank you. I'm very thankful for this game, it's devs, and it's community. Especially this year. It's been a tough year with widespread shutdowns meaning not seeing friends and family for many months. But playing Factorio together has been my favorite activity to share remotely and keep connected. Even have been reconnecting with a good friend recently after buying him a copy. Thank you! Best place to get Factario troubleshooting? Posted: 27 Nov 2020 05:56 AM PST I haven't played factario in months, so when I booted it back up, all I got in the main player screen was a black screen. I've tried everything, updated all the add on's, uninstalled the game then reinstalled it. Uninstalled steam itself, reinstalled it, tried different compatibility builds like Proton 3.7-8 Nothing seems to work. I am running Factario on steam, on Linux Mint 20 Cinnamon, 4.6.7 Edit1: SOLVED, the trick was to delete every file associated with steam and to reinstall fresh. [link] [comments] |
