I have a legitimate complaint: If you program for a living, Factorio feels like work. Posted: 20 Aug 2020 09:58 PM PDT I mean I've been playing Factorio for a while, and I've been programming for a while, and it's just something that I keep noticing, is that the game feels almost exactly like work. You spend all day piecing together this complex web of things to finally make the machine go and then, out of the blue... Bugs They come out of nowhere to fuck up your whole day and they weren't even YOUR bugs. It wasn't even your fault. The only real mistake you made, in both the game and in real life, was not building a complete enough wall of laser death towers to kill everyone so that you can live in a world of only the machines [link] [comments]

Posted: 20 Aug 2020 07:17 PM PDT I bought factorio yesterday and expected it to be like most other games for me where I play because it's slightly compelling then just stop one day and never go back. But no, oh no. I LOVE IT the factory building is amazing, the constant need of fixing something while defending against the biters while a research just finish's is absolutely amazing. At first I tried to automate everything with just conveyerbelts and while I don't currently understand how I would do that, my knowledge is building and I just am leaving it up to myself to refuel things and defend so I always have something to do, and automate where I do not. TLDR, didn't believe you guys and the memes but actually super addicting [link] [comments]
Possible idea for an expansion to the endgame. Posted: 20 Aug 2020 10:10 PM PDT So as I'm laying in bed I got to thinking, we only know that the main character crash landed on an alien planet, we have no idea where they were coming from or where they were going as well as what the motives were. So I got to thinking what if there was an expansion to the game which explored that very idea. After you launch the first rocket you get three choices, stay and keep building the factory, leave and go to the characters old home world, or go to where the character was originally going before they crashed. Now if the player chose to go back to the home world they would select that and it would send them there after the credits rolled of course. Once the player arrive there. The planet is desolate and plagued with a dense cloud of pollution, the cool part would be is that there would be factories there but not like in the main game, the factory building would seem higher developed, yet abandoned, along with abandoned buildings,(weather this is actually done or not we will see. But either the tech tree is kept the same with some additions, or it is completely reset and is entirely new technologies to research). As the game goes on the player runs into ai, but not aliens or monsters, but other humans who chose to stay on the home planet rather than leave. After meeting them you are given a choice, fix what was done to the planet and help the people who stayed, which gives a more 'green thumb' research tree, or fight against the people who stayed and further pollute the planet which will have a more pollution oriented tech tree. Now as for going to the place the character was going to before crash landing I'm less sure about how that would look. Any ideas for either comment, let's see if this will get noticed. The factory must grow. [link] [comments]

Do you Engineers also play/like technical modded minecraft? Posted: 21 Aug 2020 06:12 AM PDT Modded MC is something I keep going back to, and it does have a lot of similarities with Factorio (specifically, technical modded minecraft, not the magic stuff). Wondering if you guys think the same? [link] [comments]

Posted: 20 Aug 2020 10:23 PM PDT Since we're launching satelites into space, wouldn't it make sense to make radar range an infinite tech? [link] [comments]
Posted: 21 Aug 2020 06:50 AM PDT Hello, can't seem to find an answer online, did Factorio stop supporting backer downloads? I haven't played in a very long time as I wanted to wait for 1.0, but I can't seem to get my game to update past 0.16.51 which seems to be the end of Alpha. [link] [comments]

Posted: 21 Aug 2020 01:09 AM PDT i started a railworld and i'm really having issues dealing with the biters. i havent cleared too many nests in fear of evolving them too fast, but it kinda started to get out of hand, and when i started clearing nests it really spun out of control. am i just supposed to stay extremely compact or go pure solar immediately or what.
