- Why does Crude Oil and other fluids (still?) have a temperature? Is there any bonus to raising or lowering heat in fluids besides water?
- Compact Solar Powered Radar Outpost

Beginner question: what is the best way to learn Factorio? Posted: 09 Nov 2019 04:14 AM PST Is it better to just play the game and learn via trial and error? Or is it better to copy other people's examples and learn via their experience? I find the massive content in Factorio kinda overwhelming which motivates me to understand the game better. I would like your advice on the best way to learn and if you have some beginner tips, I'd like to read them as well! Thanks! [link] [comments]

Launched my first Industrial Revolution rocket! Posted: 09 Nov 2019 07:25 AM PST Took me 75h 16min. Satellite included. I had a fantastic time – it was almost like playing for the first time again! (Except I could reuse a few tricks from vanilla, like sushi belts, and that made me feel clever.) Yellow science was my bottleneck at the end there, and going for Logistics Network tech instead of the rocket silo research first delayed me a while. The Logistics Network tech is gamechanging, though – my base was such a mess that I got that first yellow science by schlepping the ingredients back and forth across my base; afterwards, the robots could do that for me (along with getting ingredients into corners I'd built myself in!) This mod has so many intermediates used in tiny quantities that feel silly to put on a bus at first, but which have you running around playing courier like that if you don't. My first bus had all the copper and tin intermediates on it – bearings, rods, etc. That was a mistake; I should have automated the production of assembler parts first (esp. large copper frames) first, and then gotten enough assemblers to produce intermediates in situ before thinking about a bus. My second "bus" was pretty much a line of assemblers all pulling from my main iron ingot line, and a line of chests for me to drop everything else into. It wasn't until late steel that I really cleaned up the earlier messes (early steel was a still nest of hand-fed assemblers all feeding each other, and with no regard for ratios). Some of the 'upgrades' are a trap, or not always better in all respects. Bronze ore crushers are less polluting than electric ones until you have efficiency modules (or a clean source of power). Electric furnaces are more polluting than bronze ones with a standard air filter (again, because of the power), even with level 1 efficiency modules. The bronze forester produces no pollution, while the pollution absorption of the electric forester is less than the pollution production of a boiler powering it. And the minigun is great for anyone who wants to stand in one spot and get overwhelmed by spitter acid... The tank minigun is amazing though. I didn't ever have the science to unlock energy shields and laser point defense; it was the tank that let me fortify my borders after big spitters and worms started appearing. Before then, the flamethrower was enough; before that it took iron ammo, turrets, and lots and lots of fish. I didn't end up using Military 4 or Uranium Processing (so more wasted research there). The numbers on the uranium ammo looked amazing, though, and I kind of want to see what that uranium ammo can do in a copper shotgun turret now. I'm not sure whether to try my hand at a No Spoon vanilla run now, or push on with IR, embark on a military crusade to get more territory, and try and set up a more orderly base with some sort of consistent SPM figure. Or install Space Exploration instead? [link] [comments]
How can I take a high resolution screenshot of an entire factory? Posted: 08 Nov 2019 04:14 PM PST I'm wanting to take a high res screenshot that covers the entire factory my friend and I have made so I can get a big print of it made as a gift for them. I was wondering if there was a way to do this that didn't involve taking a few hundred screenshots and joining them together in photoshop? On a similar vein, are there any console commands I can use to make the hud invisible? [link] [comments]

No wires consumed when pasting? Posted: 08 Nov 2019 11:18 PM PST I am transforming my train network to LTN and in that process i am converting 40+ train stations to LTN stations. In that process i am adding red/green wire between boxes in the station. To ease the task i have taken a copy of one such wired row of boxes and am pasting it down on top of an existing row of boxes. This adds the wire to the existing boxes, but it do not consume any wire from my inventory. Is this a feature or a bug? [link] [comments]

Py mods + infinite ressources ? Posted: 09 Nov 2019 07:03 AM PST Is there any way to make the pyanodon ore + coal fields lasting forever ? Most mods only do iron, couper, coal and oil this one https://mods.factorio.com/mod/sonaxaton-infinite-resources works fine but is making the mining way too fast and cheap.
