    Kovarex with trains

    Kovarex with trains

    Kovargetti

So I have been playing for many years, and have never manged to work out circuits. Last night I was determined to get Kovarex enrichment up and running, but still couldn't work out the circuitry required. Then I thought- I'm good with trains. Why don't I do it with trains?

This is clearly a perfect and intended use of train networks.

    How it works:

    • The train on the right has a condition set to leave the Kovarex station when it has exactly 40 U-235 on board. The train on the left has the same conditions, but with only 1 U-235.
    • The Kovarex station is turned off until there is something in the chest by the centrifuge (i.e. the Kovarex process has finished).
    • At this point both trains activate and rush towards the station- the train on the right gets there first, and loads up exactly 40 units of U-235. This leaves one unit remaining (the new one). The second train then comes in and scoops this up.
    • The train with the 40 original U-235 on board then goes back to its original station, and the 40 U-235 get recycled back into the centrifuge.
    • Repeat!

It works, it's genius, and I'm not at all making a wasteful mockery of the entire game.

If pollution is not your main issue this coal mining design is so sweet (and most of all free of electric power needs), I should have used it before!

Felt cute, might actually start making yellow science idk

I made the Yellow Conveyor Belt in Dreams for the PS4, thought you guys would like to see it :)

New-ish player. This is a smelting setup I'm trying out, I have a fixation on maintaining a grid of substations, so a tileable setup like this is what I want. Is this reasonable or too inefficient?

Factorio mod for rail yard humps, anyone? Because that's what Id want if I landed on an alien planet.

Only 33 hours in and already at blue science heh.........

Well I did warn the bugs to stay away from my iron.....

    Posted: 16 Feb 2020 09:28 PM PST

Biters kept attacking my iron deposit on the lower side of my base well I was improving defenses so I got pissed when they destroyed half the wall....This will learn them well... Again adding to my point Artillery fixes everything.

Recently picked the game back up and was looking at my old saves from v.13. I used the save name as a little reminder to myself what I was doing. Thought it may be mildly interesting to some of you ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. What do you do to keep track of your game between sessions?

    Posted: 17 Feb 2020 08:32 AM PST

New to Factorio, roped my friend in recently, and after he struggled with production, I recommended mining/smelting seperately. Before hardly any green science he does this. Offscreen includes similar copper plate smelting and 22 steam engines.

    Factorio Texture Packs?

    Factorio Texture Packs?

Hey, a user in our community brought to my attention that is is possible to modify the graphics in Factorio to alt ones. This gave me the idea of Textures Packs. Apparently as long as you make images in several sizes (He has a .py for this on github) to fit those of original images you are pretty much set to go. Only need to replace them in /data folder. Cannot use animated images though.

I was thinking of having an optional texture pack for our servers so people can make the game a bit more fun without having to install mods every time.. Has anyone here experienced with this? Know of any textures packs available?

Anyway, will keep you updated on our progress ;-)

PS: Quadrum set up a github for this project: https://github.com/Quadrum1/factorio_textures

"Play time (this save): 1 day, 5:38:25" Yeah... I guess I can start plopping factories again now that the train network is taken care of

Went into this game blind only to come to the sub to see its all about symmetry. This is my noob factory 8 hours in.

    Project "Paving the World" Continues

    Posted: 17 Feb 2020 12:46 AM PST

Let's make Factorio the best railway simulator in history!

    Posted: 16 Feb 2020 05:47 PM PST

I love trains. I'm not a puffer-nutter, nor am I a gunzel... I just love the simplicity and power of railway locomotion.

I'm great at graphic design using Adobe but I don't know how to mod.

Factorio is a wonderful game engine but I think it could be even more interesting with an in-depth signalling system, things like locomotive turntables, wagon washes (like a car wash but put your dirty wagons and locomotives through!), proper railway crossings... the prospects are huge. What about a 3D view of the locomotive from inside as it drives around the world?

Big ups to those who have already taken on the challenge of train mods... I use a lot of them and they are all great. But despite the amount and quality, the current collection of train mods doesn't reflect the broad spectrum of opportunity that exists in this world.

Anyway - I will help any way I can if others are interested in joining in. Or maybe there is already a group out there who could use someone with my humble skills?

    Let me know ;)

Is there a way to forcibly delete entities?

    Posted: 17 Feb 2020 04:15 AM PST

Hi, I'm playing a heavily modded multiplayer game. One of the mods we're using is RailPowerSystem. RPS rails have occasionally left an almost invisible entity aside from a single white pixel when they were removed and this is causing my base to be surrounded by flashing yellow icons because these invisible entities are "disconnected" or whatever. I can't destroy them or mine them, does anyone know of a way for me to delete these entities using console commands or a mod that deletes entities on mouse cursor?
